Currently I am reading "The One Thing". In general I think its a good idea to read the book that has the biggest impact on you right now. For example, if you struggle with copywriting I suggest you read a book (or a few book) about that. If your problem is work ethic you should read sth that helps you in this area. Thats what has worked for me at least...

Anyone read any good books on leadership-I've went from managing no people to managing 12 and I guess its about handling that and I guess stopping being the nice guy.

Suggestions welcomed

Thanks

I wrote a book about success. I read it to myself every week... You know how they say to write a book for one person? Well I wrote my book for me, haha.

If you guys are interested in reading it, it's called 64 Laws of Success and can be read online for free at 64laws.com

Efficiency by Wallstplayboys is a great book for anyone whose looking for a framework to success. It's not a cheesy step by step book self help book either. You should check out their blog if you're unfamiliar with them.

I keep seeing this book recommended by people, including @Fox .
What were some of your key takeaways?

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

I read this a long time ago and wasn't "in the mood for it" so got rid of it. Then I found out it's one of those books that just sticks to your mind. I kept re-thinking about it for years and finally decided it was the perfect book to bring on vacation and I'm loving it.

It's a philosophical book that has little to do with zen and/or motorcycles but rather an in depth look at the concept of "quality" and perspective through the eyes of the narrator who suffers from schizophrenia while on a motorcycle road trip with his 11 year old son.

This is one of those books that doesn't make the business book lists but is probably an important book to add into your collection anyway. Similar to Walden - it opens your eyes and and adds new concepts and questions and a look at things in ways you may never have considered.

I'd recommend it highly if you'd like something off the beaten path.

I'm also reading "Surely you're joking, Mr. Feynman" which is a book written by the physicist in a very fun, interesting, humorous look back through his life. Very light, very fun, super interesting and you can literally hear the book through his voice if you've ever heard the guy speak.

The Sun Watches the Sun by Dejan Stojanovic

I don't have the patience for most fiction and a friend recommended poetry, this being one of them.

I wish I started reading it sooner.

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion.
Two chapters in and I not only see the value in this but it also helps you make the transition into application of the principles.
Classic one! I am considering starting Cialdini´s new book "Pre Suasion" these days, has anyone here read it?

what really matters in my opinion is the frame that sustains these principles

instead of telling you a long story ,just look at these 2 pictures

1) Jeff Walker 's Product launch formula

2) Erik Von markovic 's " Mystery method" for dating women

what do you think ?

i tell you what i think.

this is true genius at work. the principles of persuasion are put in the right system-process-structure-frame

this is why stratagems are more important than isolated principles of persuasion

i don't have Robert Cialdini's books within reach when laying in bed

instead i have that :

people don't understand the value of this book,

they think this is just another chinese crap to put somewhere on the shelves .

this is why people are controled by the masters behind the scenes

and they don't even know that they have already lost the game of life

"The Joy of Living" by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche (aka "The Millionaire Monk").

I read Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth" some time ago and they helped me get through some difficult losses in my life. I recently reordered Power of Now and after looking for a copy of A New Earth of his in the library... I stumbled on this. I watched some of Mingyur's videos before and they helped calm the voice inside my head.

It's excellent. This book changed my whole perspective on what is going on in my head and my relationships with other people. It's also allowed me to re-examine my relationship with my goals and realize that I need not work toward future pleasure. One can simply find joy in the mundane, the difficult, and the repetitive: all the same.

It's spiritual (homie's a lifelong Buddhist monk), but it's not mumbo jumbo: this book explains what's going on in the brain when you meditate and become aware of what's going on in the mind.

Just finished Sapiens, A Brief History of Human Kind and Romanovs 1613-1918 by Simon Sebag, both great books if you are interested in these kinds of themes
As mentioned on another thread on this forum, also reading Sapiens. This book is such a great mix of history, philosophy, and science. It's very sobering: people with nationalist or religious sentiments may not like the book.

For that reason only I would heavily recommend this for entrepreneurs who want to understand how the world became the world today.

If you want to know what the world will become, read Homo Deus.

This is next on my reading list (Sapiens).

But nobody F*cking knows what the world will become (Home Deus). I don't think the author makes that claim either? We can make guesses and bets. But nobody knows. The Black Swan by Nassim Taleb made me understand this at a deeper level.

Sure, he also clearly states that in his book. He makes assumptions based on history and evolution of technology.

I started writing down examples, but don't want to repeat the whole book.

Excellent point! Like you said is about how you apply the theory to the process and big pictures. I will definitely take a look at the book you recommended. Do you especifically recommend Peter Taylor translation or any other will also do the work?

Thanks for the comment Longinus. I personally have a natural curiosity towards everything and want to read books on all kinds of topics. I also think this is a great strategy because you will slowly build knowledge in all kinds of areas.

Been reading a lot of biographies as well, not sure why I love reading about other people's lives so much

Currently reading:

How To Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

Good read so far. Only on the third chapter since it is strongly recommended that I read each chapter twice. After doing this for three chapters, I completely understand why because the first time I read it I don't even understand the context.

Definitely applicable to real life, but needs to be a constant practice or will be forgotten.

Quite a bit of gold in this one. (PRINCIPLES)

Total and Complete Control of Your Mind, control over your emotions as a core component of success, Self-Discipline, Definiteness of Purpose and other principles, powerful stuff when you actually internalize and apply the principles.

The Richest Man in Babylon is pretty good and similar

I have that book too. Any others? Like, a fictional book with an underlying message related to living a better life, following a dream, etc.

One that comes to my mind right now is "The way of the peaceful warrior" by Dan Millman, I give it a try because Phil Jackson recommended to some of his basketball players in the past.

Haha I've read that one too, but didn't care for it too much. Didn't have the hidden meaning in there as much as I expected. I think I read it after I saw Tim Ferriss recommend it, but it just wasn't for me.

The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari.

Similar content to other personal development books out there but with a "spiritual" undertone.
But it awakens your soul/spirit, much like Alchemist can.

That's my last Personal Development, Philosphical type of book for a while. Digging deep into Marketing & Copywriting books for now.
