Hello Everyone, my name is Bob. I am 37 years old. I am an office manager in my father's company (basically I run it), but at the end of the day I am an employee making what my friends would call decent money. I'll save you all the victim speech, but the bottom line is I HATE IT. This is where I am.
Where I want to be...
First move: Replace my income and get the hell out of my job. I know this isn't fast lane, but this job is sucking the life out of me and I am in a constant cycle of just being happy I'm out of there. I know that sounds like loser talk, and I want to change that.
Second move: Build something huge that adds value to the world, yet gives back to me! Yes, I know I'm not supposed to concentrate on the money. But I'm going to be honest, and I want people to tell me where I'm wrong... that's why I'm finally posting. I feel like I give a lot already. The problem is, it doesn't give me any money in return.
So, I honestly have no clue where to start. I'm gonna start ripping through this forum, looking for clues, looking for inspiration, anything. I guess I'll start at the gold threads? I've read the book. It's great. But I've read tons of books, and here I am - wasting everything I have to give sitting behind a computer hating my life every day.
I fit the mold. I've been in real estate in my younger 20's... owned seven houses - lost them all, claimed bankruptcy. I've wasted tens of thousands of dollars trading currencies, only to realize I couldn't break my gambler mentality.
Currently, I am a wildlife freak. I take photos... tons of photos. Every free minute, I am out looking for wildlife. People LOVE the photos. I've sold calendars to donate to charity for four years now, advertising to friends on facebook. That's great, but it is chump-change. I'm addicted to wildlife - its a real addiction. If I could figure out how to bottle half that passion and put it toward my financial well-being, I'd be out of my job, never having to work again a day in my life, within a year.
I've also wrote a book that gives me a passive income of about $150-$300/month. ...so that's nothing major, but it is a taste of passive income. I guess its a start.
So I guess I need to figure out where the hell I'm supposed to go from here. I'm lost. I'm not crying or whining, I'm just being honest as this is an introduction. I want to change all this. I don't know where to start. I need to figure it out, quickly. Somehow. I WILL!
