If you want a desktop, you can build a $1500 store computer for $500. It only takes 2-3 hours max to build.
My computer is 48GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 3930k i7, etc etc etc. for around $4500 including monitors.
I could've went cheap but I do a ton of video and photo editing.
So many options available though. You buy a good motherboard so you can just upgrade other parts as needed or when you want to grow. One 4GB stick of DDR3 shouldn't be more then $50-$75(I got 8GB for $80 at DDR5).
Holy living shit!
My desktop is running 8GB of memory, 500HD, and a Xeon server processor and that thing blazes. I can't even imagine your setup. I am really wanting twin 27" monitors but the graphics with the server processor are not great. I will need dedicated graphics for it.
Tinkering with computers is surprisingly easy.
