Ok, so one of my goals if forming an awesome web production agency that will create fantastic, high quality websites.
So I tried forming a team, first step being to find a great designer (as I do the programming). We did a couple of jobs just nicely, and all client interaction went through me - I played the role of project manager too.
Then, I figured, they can interact just nicely without me, but when I connected them directly, designer tried to make a direct deal with a client, who luckily declined it, but it opened a question - if you run a similar business - how do you deal with this?
Things I found work for but are not enough if I want to make it a hands-off business:
>> Acting like project manager or having a trustworthy project manager.
>> Avoiding having as worker anyone who has a slightest bit of entrepreneurial spirit in them, or even an idea that they have it.
And a thing that I haven't tested but guess it might work:
>> Strong branding, awesome service and marketing.
Hiding contact info and making everyone communicate through project management system proved ineffective for me. They can still exchange data + it was just inconvenient.
