Hey guys I'm a weekly lurker and occasional poster here since joining. I recently quit a very stable job after a lot of thought. I put 13 years into the industry, it was a highly technical field with professional and licensure moats which was nice, but a lot of personal liability and a mostly slowlane business (tough to meaningfully scale or sell these businesses).
Excited to announce I have decided to start a cleaning business! Very different than my previous industry lol but I'm excited to get moving with it. I have my supplies, website, way to accept payment, everything ready to go. Just need customers!
I know there are a lot of good marketers here who work in home / local services. Would love to hear from any of you who happen to catch this thread.
I will admit business development has never been my strong suit but I'm eager to learn. So to keep myself accountable, I'm going to be posting in this thread on a near daily basis with what I'm doing and what my results are.
For right now, I'm offering home and commercial cleaning. I'm going to be doing the cleaning myself until I can get enough clients to hire someone part-time. Located in the northeast near Philly.
Week 1 efforts/results:
Cold called 5 realtors. 1 of them said she needed her office cleaned. i did that walk thru today and hopefully I get the job!
Week 2 (this week):
so far called 2 realtors this morning before the walkthru appointment. I plan to call more today.
I really need to get that first client. I still haven't told everyone in my network yet, so I'm going to work on doing that today. But you guys who've done this before: what would you say is the #1 thing I should be doing to land that first client?
I understand google ads could drive traffic qualified leads to my phone, which would be great. but i have no reviews at the moment and don't want to spend $ on leads that are not going to change their mind once they see my profile is so new.
