Man, it is good to be back on FLF.
I don't know exactly where I went wrong after writing my 1/5/10 plan in 2021, but I haven't achieved near what I thought was possible.
Ironically, my time back in the slowlane gave me inspiration for a book!
I had ideas around money, debt, consumerism and individualism bouncing around my head for years before deciding to pick up the pen and do something with it.
In November 2025 I finished the first draft of The Old Money Blueprint and put it on ice.
Today, I did my first cold read.
Holy shit.
This book is actually pretty good! I'd give it a B in its current form.
There is a bit of editing to do on my side before I send it to a proper editor. I read MJ's comment on the new book thread about looking back on his old writing and thinking how differently he would do it today. It was heartening. The Millionnaire Fastlane is most people's favourite book because of the red pill, the wake up call, the conviction in the ideas. The writing was good enough to get the message across.
I'm aiming for the same with my book. It's my first. It won't be perfect. But the ideas in there are pretty killer for the right reader.
I had this convoluted plan of trying to grow an audience on X before finishing the book, and then starting a substack to get subscribers, then getting them as advance readers for positive reviews on launch day. I was trying to build an audience before I had a product.
After I posted here the other day about my 1/5/10 plan, I realised I dont need to spin my wheels on X or Substack - I can skip that and find 100 advance readers directly.
I'll still post 1x per day on X. I optimised my profile today and set up the landing page to collect emails. 15 min a day max.
Next sprint for me:
* Finish the edit
* Send to editor
Backlog:
* Create visuals for the book
* Create free resources
* Cover art
* Format for Kindle and Hardcover/Paperback
* Hunt for those advance readers
* Co-ordinate launch
Keen to hear from anyone who has wriiten and released a book. Did the launch meet your expectations? Did you try to get on podcasts etc to promote it?
Also keen to hear any questions from people wanting to know more.
