I appreciate what @AceVentures attempted to do here. I think it would be valuable for anyone to hear him out especially people who very arrogantly and incorrectly think they have the monopoly on science.
I will say I have personal experience with this matter. I have proof. It’s not up for debate for me anymore. We have lived it.
1. First two months of vaccines harmed my son. We were kicked out of our pediatrician office for daring to read the waivers she was pushing us to sign, and asking questions. Thankfully we were able to head this off and the harm was temporary.
Availability bias: happened to me and those around me, so this is my new truth.
2. We tested him for antibodies for what he was supposedly vaxinated against and he had none. ZERO. So all the scare tactics fall on deaf ears with me when the so called vaccines don’t even provide the immunity they claim to.
Sample of one. I never developed antibodies against tuberculosis, for example. Doesn't mean the tuberculosis vaccine is a scam. Doesn't mean all of the other shots weren't worth it.
Not all vaccines are successful. They can be successful only 87% of the time, and it would still be worth it for society on a macro level.
On a micro level, your son got the short end of the stick, and thankfully, no permanent harm was done. Some aren't so lucky, and I hope to see some genetic testing implemented in the future where it would be known if a particular vaccine can F*ck you up real good so you can avoid it (and the rest of the 98% people will maintain the herd immunity by taking it instead).
“Trust the science” is the battle cry of an unscientific, emotional, Dunning-Krugerite.
I agree, and so is trusting anecdotal reports and lived experiences because it reinforces your own biases.
Maybe you can afford not to vaccinate your children because 97-98% of people will. And you'd get away with it by having healthier children overall. But on a societal level, this is harmful in the long term, as more and more people will opt to follow your example, and we would be back dealing with disease outbreaks our generation hasn't had the misfortune of dealing with thanks to the actions of those that came before us.
P.S. My opinion does not extend to COVID and influenza vaccines.
