I’ve recently taken on the challenge of building an online forum for gambling enthusiasts, focusing on creating a responsible and supportive community.
I have been a gambler for years so I have really seen the dark side of gambling. So my aim is to make is to make it responsible.
I opted for phpBB as my forum software and I'm hosting with Hostinger. My coding experience is limited to some html 10 years ago but im steadily getting there. I like how I can use AI as a guide instead of reading a book about coding(more on hands for me). Also learned that even if AI can code for you, you still need to know what is where to create what you want. But just getting the forum up was big achievement for me, I mean I used freaking 5 hours getting a favicon up on my site. Maybe to much marry J on my part
Going forward i am planning on writing content articles to forum post(guides, resources), tweaking site, and looking for ways to get traffic(but quality first).
Anyways why build a forum in 2024 ?
Well I am a 35 year old degen who always Loved forum community's as a means to explore. Never was a fan of modern social media, but you kinda get sucked into it.
I was Actually thinking of this forum after i got the initial idea. So seeing this thing alive inspired me, and maid me remember there is other people out there who like this format.
I’m still early in the process, but I’m learning as I go and would be glad to get any insights from others who’ve launched or managed forums. If there’s interest and permission, I can share link.
