Hi Guys,
I have too many ideas in my head and the problem I'm facing at the moment is picking one and developing a plan of action.
Anyhoo, here goes. Has anyone used the new etickets that are available through airlines? I believe the system allows you to purchase your ticket online or with a mobile device and then your boarding pass is sent to your email account. In this is a boarding pass with bar code that can be scanned with a bar code reader at the airport. It saves you from standing in a line up at the counter, saves paper, time and money.
The reason I ask is that I have an idea for employing the same technology, but in a different industry that I (to be backed up by the thoughts of many) would work great in.
I did some preliminary research this morning on the internet, but alot of it was from 09/11 and said it has hard for the scanner to pick up the barcode on the screens of smartphones. Anyone has a better or newer experience? I'm also trying to figure out if there are special readers that need to be used or if a current handheld scanner would work.
My next step is to call the airlines and see what company developed it for them. I'm sure they could also tell me how reliable and trustworthy the system is as well.
Thanks
