I love to run. Every morning, 6 times a week, then I rest on Saturdays. Just after my morning prayers and a little bit of stretching and water. I pick up my trainers, put some music and earphones with a torchlight in my hand. Then I'm off.
You see I don't have to run, I'm lean and healthy and do other exercises. There's no gangster threatening to cut off my legs in a month. There's no scary doctor's report telling me to run for 6 months. There is no one nor is there a situation that's threatening me to run. I'm not pressured in any way to Run. But yet I want to Run.
When I wake up in the morning, my bed calls to me. After my morning prayers just after 4.am. my bed calls to me. After those stretches and glass of water, my bed still calls to me. My body gives signals, of how tired it is from previous runs. How strenuous the past goals & distances accomplished and soon-to-be accomplished have been on my body. Oh he complains. But yet I want to Run.
The distances I set for myself scares me to my inner man. The dogs that patrol in the morning, which I run by with cautious fear scare me. The possibility of running into a mad man or thug (as we call them here "Area Boy" scares the life out of me. But yet I Run
I love to do Business. the process excites me from top to bottom, building systems, giving hope, creating value and prospering people's lives is the greatest gift anyone can ask for. I truly feel bad and tragically sorry for those who haven't tapped into their entrepreneurial spirit yet, the spirit that gives and gives continually.
I love to do business, but no matter how much I love to do business, i'm pressured to, I have to. There are thousands of situations, friends, family, landlords, employees that pressure us to do what we do. And pressure's not bad, pressure is great for development and growth.
But I want to feel as free with my business, as I feel free when I'm out there pacing the cold.
We all have that number in our head. That price that when we get, we would join the elite. And join great entrepreneurs who have attained that price for themselves. A price which we all call Financial Independence or Freedom.
Just because they are financial free, doesn't mean they stop running. But something is different. They shift from having to, to wanting to. And that's where I want to be. That's why I do it. To get to that Point.
There are very few things, I really enjoy in my life. Running is one of them. I know I won't be able to run forever. But while i'm out there, in the early cold morning, breathing in and out fresh morning due. Its literally heaven, and the best part of my day most times. I can't imagine how much of a joy kill it would be if I had to do it as an obligation. But I'm glad that even though I don't have to, I want to. And that's the best part of it all.
