Hey FL forum,
Just as a quick off topic, anyone here ever had to deal with parents or guardians that are in total disagreement with you taking an intelligent risk and dive into starting something new??
I know many parents out there and even some on here, would do anything and everything for their kids.. The love that our great parents share, with us, is something that is indescribable and hard to repay. Right?
Long story short I dropped out of school not to long ago to put together some code and get something up... Now I am looking for a job just to get by and pay the bills for the short term, while I chip away at my mission. However, my parents don't believe in my ideas and execution skills. Fine, they want us, their kids, out of danger! I could only imagine. I do not have a problem with all the scrutiny and yells of "YOUR SO STUPID, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU DOING!". AHAH

its nuts...
But tables turned, when my parents began getting more emotionally involved with the intense process. My mom is now depressed because she says, "I need to be realistic and I am going to end up a dead loser at a dead end." Sound familiar to anyone? My father says, "look what you did to your mom, she is lost beyond belief over you not finishing degree and getting that 'prestigious' job with a big corporation.!" Now, I am this horrible dead beat son.!.
I am sure someone on this forum has gone or is going through the same thing...
And, no, my family is not dysfunctional.. They are completely normal and laid back, but when it comes to career, like many other immigrant families, it's get a 9 - 5 with the huge corp after getting bachelors or be a dead beat loser.. I tried talking to them and even "fibbing" a bit saying I will go back to school (I am 19 years old!)
Wow, now that it is causing them, especially my mother, some serious distress and pain, what can I do?
I am going to move out soon, which was the original plan, but now it's double time after this past week. It is extremely painful to see them going through that amount of pain and anguish while the process has just barely begun.
Now, my brothers and even girlfriend, are saying "go back to school you broke bum!!! stop being delusional!". I think girlfriend might even leave me! ahah.. "Money talks, bs walks" right?.
Sh**t, other than moving out and having thick skin, any other practical measure and step I could take to get away from this black hole of frustration and old beliefs? It's starting to affect me, in the sense that I have even thought that I was wrong and was gonna enroll in school again to finish my three more years.
Lastly, can a parent on here, if possible, give a high level overview of what is going through their mind? And, why am I the bad son and loser who had all the potential to be a doctor, but threw it all away for what is but a dream full of intangible empty promises?
Anybody else been through or going through this? If so, I would love to hear how you guys are keeping that razor sharp focus?
THANKS!!
