When I tell people about my business, the first thing many ask is: are you not afraid of AI making your product irrelevant? They send me articles and YouTube videos where people talk about how businesses will just vibe code all their needs.
From my experience, serious businesses buy security, SLAs, expertise, ongoing support and a proven system. They don't want to maintain custom code. Still, I try to go over all scenarios. AI could become so good that it's not even writing code anymore but just spits out exactly what you need. But in that scenario the world looks very different. I don't even know if my customers themselves are still relevant at that point.
So for now I stopped worrying about the doomsday version. I started thinking about what I can actually do now in the current "vibe-code-trend".
Strategy: becoming the thing people vibe code on top of
I spoke to a new customer who has a technical side and is vibe coding solutions on top of my SaaS. He's using N8N, hitting our REST API, building automations in his weekend so his business runs smoother during the week. Then he asked if he could list his solutions in our app store (years ago I set up an elements page inspired by Heroku). When he asked me this it was an eye opener.
My platform has to profile itself as the ecosystem for multi-channel e-commerce. The backbone. Then I thought, what if we actively sell automations? Like a tutorial section on the site and ready-to-go prompts:
This does three things. It answers the "can't I just build this myself?" question before it even comes up. It signals that we are the platform, the foundation layer. You don't replace the foundation, you build on it. And for customers who don't want to build themselves, we offer to set it up for them. We already host Zapier automations for customers and make a good chunk of extra MRR on it. Adding a "buy this automation" button next to every tutorial is the logical next step.
Question for the forum
I do think there's a difference between running a single-feature SaaS and a multi-feature platform. If your product does one thing, like email marketing or invoice reminders, I can see how vibe coding becomes a real threat. But if you're a platform connecting multiple systems, channels and workflows, the complexity becomes your moat. Side note: if you go this route, invest in a great API. I moved ours to a .dev domain, aspiring to do what shopify.dev does so well. It feels like a party to develop on their products.
How do you think about this? Are you doing anything proactive to position your business in an AI world? Or do you think this whole "AI will replace SaaS" narrative is overblown and you just keep building?
Curious what others are doing, especially those running B2B software businesses.

- Build your own email marketing tool using our API and skip paying for Sage Mailer
- Set up an AI-powered customer support bot that answers order questions using GPT and our API
- Build your N8N automation with Stockpilot in 30 minutes
