Several years ago I was sitting in my house. It was literally full of stuff that had accumulated through the years. I have a 4-3-2 house and a 3 car shop and we had a hard time closing the doors. We were seriously considering building a wing onto the house so we could spread the stuff out to more square feet.
Instead we went on a decluttering kick. We cleaned out room by room and got rid of stuff. Some we sold, some we gave away, and some we trashed. I liked where we were then and I have really been careful to try to prevent the accumulation of more stuff.
Well, I finished some major business goals and have had some time to play in the shop. D@mn thing is full of stuff. Can't get anything done. I have stuff left over from the 90's that I have been "saving". Not sure what I am saving them for. Looks like another round of cleaning out stuff is on the horizon.
Think about all the stuff you pay to keep. Who owns who, who is in control?
In our society we will work obscene numbers of hours at jobs we hate, to buy more stuff that we don't use, and to pay to store it for the future when we still won't use it. We become prisoners to our own stuff.
Stuff is a hard habit to break.
