All,

Sometimes staying up to date , staying informed helps.
It shows you are smart, educated and interesting!
I don't have TV but do waste time on the internet on news sites, financial sites, and business sites.

It's something nice to have but is not real action.

How do you stay upto date without wasting too much time?

Personally, I read nonfiction books before bed, and during the miscellaneous waiting times throughout the day--like waiting in line at Starbucks--I'll skim articles in my Feedly feed. I'm a geek, so I follow sites that tend to post news & analysis of technology/science breakthroughs (e.g., Phys.org, Nautilus, Science Daily, etc.).

I like Feedly, since you can curate what you see in your feed.

Read on paper material, such as The Financial Times or The Economist, if of course that attends to your needs. It does not make sense to be an expert on middle east politics if you are trying to build a cleaning business for example :D
