This is to answer MJ's question in other thread about what software architect I am.
I have been doing software / web development for years (since 1992). My strength is building large scale web based application with high availability database for corporation. I have built FREE Internet registration system for ISP back in 1999 and sold to NetZero, In-house ordering system for computer warehouse serving top 3 computer manufactures (IBM, HP, Toshiba), Internet/Intranet/Marketing portal for soap manufacture in Scottsdale, AZ to serve 3000+ employees, auction site for government liquidation, online shopping cart for #1 raw steak supplier. My last project was building the cost recovery / workflow / package tracking system for legal industry. My application has been installed in 175+ law firms world wide. I was consultant of the year. What achievement. However, I don't feel happy at all.
I am very tired of working 14 hours a day for corporation and have no life. I felt that I don't know anything other than coding or manipulating numbers. In other words, I don't know anything about real life. I don't know about luxury car, housing market, stock , marketing or hobbies. I don't even know what my passion is. That's pathetic, isn't it.
So I quit my job in 2006! In the past two years, I have been traveling to Asia for 15 months and looking for fastlane to reach my dream. I have tried many things that don't really get me anywhere. I tried and failed. However, I have never regret what I have done in my life. It made me who I am today.
In few days, I will be 40. I feel that I am a new born baby. I start learning how to live in the real work from scratch.
