Teslas, and ALL electric vehicles, rely heavily on fossil fuels.

Plastic parts. Tires. Machinery for manufacture.

Even the electricity out of the grid:

Are Teslas cool? Yeah.

But are they the "anti-fossil fuel" world beater? Not really, no.
Agreed! I still really like electric cars. The F150 Lightning should be awesome. Think about the gas taxes you avoid charging at home.

So what we have is basically this-

You can either generate the power with economies of scale. Basically a big a$$ power plant.

Or

You can generate your power on a small scale via an internal combustion engine.

The electric vehicle is more economical from an operation standpoint, there is no question… But there is a reason why they are more expensive than gas cars… The stuff that goes in to them doesn’t have the economies of scale yet.

You either pay more for the car and less to operate it, or less for the car and more to operate it.

Tesla’s value proposition in particular, sucks… 100k for a Model S… VS about the same amount for a Range Rover or S Class. Sit in all three and anyone would be crazy to buy the Tesla.

Also, having just gone to the offshore drilling museum in Galveston, (yes, I’m a massive nerd) it is incredible all of the things petroleum is in. Certainly a lot of the parts of either types of cars have petroleum in their supply chain.

This is a really good insight! I hadn’t thought of it that way.

Very cool museum to go visit.

I read somewhere that with Teslas, you save a lot of money from not buying gas, but that basically all of those savings are wiped out when it’s time to replace the battery.

I'm not a fan of vaccines, but even sometimes the 'alternative party' raises my ire.

The anti-vaxx side of my family started sharing this bit of an interview with Noble Laureate Luc Montagnier, who claimed the vaccines are causing variants of COVID:

However, what the folks didn't think of was this:
1. COVID variants have been discovered BEFORE the vaccines came out
(which is probably due to the virus spreading through huge populations...so I guess the theory that the virus has been here long before 2020 may have some ground?)

2. As the virus spreads to more people, the more it replicates in bodies and mutates

Luc did raise the issue of Antibody-Dependent Enhancement, where antibodies from the vaccines may actually make it EASIER for viruses to infect.

A good article on this:

While the scientific community claims there's no ADR effect clearly registered from COVID-vaccines (yet), I remember Dengue has reported cases of ADR-so that's not impossible. The article did suggest some ways to improve vaccines for that, so I guess there's always room for improvement.

What I hate is that the anti-vax side of my family keeps finding reasons to support their hatred. At one point, they blew up a huge argument in the main family WhatsApp group with some articles, and they did not lay out facts in an orderly manner.

They were like, 'Oh...if you take vaccines, you are doomed...X will kill you...Mark of the Beast...bla bla bla'
Which beats the whole operation of explaining why you don't wanna vaccines altogether...you might as well not tell people anything!

Another sad thing is that this side of the family are (older) Christians, and for the non-Christian folks, blabbering like fools just makes us look like idiots.

I just want to tell them this:

"Are you f*cking anti-vax...just for the sake of hating that vial of crap???
Not everything is the f*cking Mark of the Beast!
Sure, the authorities are working on something. But mankind has always been working on evil shit...it doesn't always have to be a shot in the arm!

You know what's the real Mark of the Beast around?
The selfishness, wickedness, hatred, ignorance and greed within all of us.
And they will grow and grow unless we choose to fight them. You don't need a bloody chip to activate these 'marks'...only your personal choice to do wickedness.

Don't be a stupid lunatic! Not every f*cking WhatsApp video from a pastor or professor is legit, as bad as the vaccine rollout may be. We have had enough ignorant Christians around, and I don't even know how the heck our Church is still standing today.

Vaccines aren't the real enemy here...the f*cking stupidity of the population and leaders are.
Sit the f*ck down, listen to all sides, verify and lay your points calmly. And then let everyone make their decisions, or provide other alternatives! "
I appreciate your levelheaded approach, but the vaccines are an enemy, as are those pushing them. There are numerous (thousands) accounts of severe reactions and deaths in the US alone.

Mark of the beast? Probably not. Detrimental to your health? Probably.

Lockdowns certainly produce variants, as they allow the virus to spread. The vaccine can also produce variants through ‘viral escape’ which is why historically no society has ever vaxinated their way out of a pandemic. This was said by Dr. Michael Yeadon, former VP of R&D at Pfizer. He’s now a ‘fringe lunatic.’ I’ll let his resume speak for itself.

This whole ordeal is supposing that SARS-CoV-2 actually exists. I posted a link in this thread, I’ll have to find it again, it goes pretty in depth about how no ‘official’ agency can produce an isolated, purified SARS-CoV-2 virus. The genome was sequenced artificially by the CDC. Would it be necessary to do so if an isolated sample existed?

Let’s suppose that SARS-CoV-2 hasn’t been isolated/purified. How can we claim RT-PCR tests to be accurate if we have no isolated sample to compare against? Not the mention the numerous other flaws with RT-PCR…

This is a panic porn, fear-induced mind virus that has crippled the globe.

The inventor of mRNA technology is currently being cancelled and silenced for his outspoken anti-mRNA ‘vaccine’ stance. A simple google search will yield a top result leading to a ‘fact’ checker.

Just remember that nowadays we believe in ‘truth over facts.’

I'm probably the most muscular person in the MMA gym that I attend.

That hasn't stopped me from getting pummeled in sparring by skinny people or people with beer bellies.

Be careful who you underestimate.

I took kickboxing / Muay Thai for 4 years, then took a few year hiatus to focus on weightlifting. I knew how things were going to go (IE a lot of getting punched in the face).

Building these, even better than they do, at this price point doesn’t seem very difficult for someone wanting a business idea and has some room to work.

Let's just tax the entire universe just in case.

He’s about to start an intergalactic war with aliens that he can’t win. They probably laugh at us as a slave planet.

“This pissant planet Earth thinks it can tax me does it?”

Who else has seen the space cash episode of South Park?

That’s the least hypocritical viewpoint on electric cars there is.

As someone that flat out needs at least an 8000+ pound towing capacity, whether I keep my old suburban for the job and buy another Benz or Masarati, or ditch it and go get a loaded out 2500 Ram… Electric cars are cool, but not ready for me.

I don't really like to get involved in the whole vax vs no vax scene as I could care less. I didn't get vaxinated because I don't feel like I need to. I don't get the flu shot either as it made no difference for me.

Anyways, take a look at this CNN heading. It's titles like this that make me wonder, why are they so desperate to make people get the vaccine? If they die, that's less "anti-vaxxers".

Headings like these just call for desperation. Inciting fear into the layman, will make them do anything.

A member of a surf group on Facebook just posted this:

Man , I can’t tell you how badly I miss surfing. It’s been 25 yrs. I was just 18 the last day I surfed at the Wedge in Newport Beach CA I got into a car accident that night, ejected onto Jamboree blvd. wasn’t expected to live. It took years to get where I am today with a lot of support and therapy. I am in a wheelchair and can only use my right side. Surfing was so much a part of my life.

If you're healthy and can enjoy your favorite activities, be so, so grateful for that. There's nothing more valuable in life than health.

I don't trust sunscreen either. I haven't used it in a while. I don't mind going outside and enjoying the sun. I haven't gotten sunburnt in a while. Granted, I've done it gradually. Started with 10 or so minutes and then worked my way up, since I used to be pale as milk. And not very healthy. Now I can stay in the sun for as long as I want

Sometimes I wonder if all the products we use to wash ourselves are necessary. Especially hair shampoo. All of the nasty chemicals in it can't be good for our hair.

I know I wash my hair less frequently than most of my friends. And I'm the only one who isn't balding, lol. I'm 29 for reference. Of course it could be genetic, but it's an hypothesis that's been on my mind recently.

Yep, compare home-made all natural recipes to almost everything you find in a store, its surprising.

Hmm there's a business idea brb going to check how saturated the market is for all natural shampoos.

Edit: bad idea :D

What a crazy profession. Mad respect for people doing this. Never heard of saturation diving... You learn something new every day.

Interesting fact about how rare this is:

It is a very specialized form of diving; of the 3,300 commercial divers employed in the United States in 2015, only 336 were saturation divers.

I don't care for Bezos, but respect where it is due on accomplishing extremely difficult things:

View: https://twitter.com/Hunter_Weiss/status/1418049769570590720
I’m in the same boat as far as feelings toward Bezos, but at the end of the day I respect the accomplishment. I haven’t put my a$$ in space.

Any idea how old that video is? I’m guessing early 2000s, he looks similar to how he did in a 60 Minutes piece on him from 1999.
