There’s a pretty epic story at my club…

Hotshot cringe guy walks into the bar mouthing off about having no one to bet with on the golf course. Implying that no one bets enough.

He goes on and on acting like a hotshot to the bar tender. Says the club is full of pussies. Wants to bet $10k and shit.

A quiet guy walks up to him and asks “sir, what is your net worth? House and all.” The hotshot proudly says “two million dollars!”

The quiet guy says, “ok, I’ll bet you that. On a coin flip, and I’m 100% serious. I’ll call my company lawyer and have him over here with a contract in 10 minutes.”

The hotshot shut up quick.

$2m was rounding error for the quiet guy.

Golf is humbling. It builds character. Particularly for hotshot douchebags.
This came to mind after reading this story:

it's fun when you bump into an old personality on a new face

I met someone recently who reminded me of an old friend - not just on a general level, but even his voice, obscure interests, and some of the places that he's lived

I’ll take the GT500 and the old Mercedes.

I could see myself owning GT500 forever, and daily driving it too. It’s just a thing of beauty!

Why the hell do people make commitments they know are beyond what their feeble selves can keep? They say, let us set off at six, but when your disciplined self turns up at the dot of the hour, there isn't a soul in sight. Meanwhile, you have trekked a full 3 Kms in the dark, at risk of being waylaid! I feel like strangling this whole institution!

Love this!

Is that what they call "money talks, Wealth whispers"?

Find better people. Those who make empty promises aren’t the kid of people you want to be around. Drop them. Either keep going solo or find new people to join you.

Had 4 ticks this year already (I removed 3 today).

I live in an area where roughly up to 1 in 3 ticks is infected with Borrelia burgdorferi (the bacteria that causes Lyme's disease). They say that the risk of infection if the tick is removed within 24 hours is very low but it's never fun to see another motherfcker in your skin and wonder which one you got.

Where are you right now?

I'll be honest, that is literally one of my largest fears. I love forests, and unfortunately with forests come ticks.

Poland. I'm in a forest pretty much every day. I'm not afraid of ticks, it's just annoying they can carry such a shitty disease.

Jesus fu king Christ, I honestly don’t get how people can live with themselves teaching other people how to be successful when they themselves aren’t successful. When did “fake it until you make it” become the primary business model of guru wannabes? Is there some term that is the opposite of the imposter syndrome? The “emperor has no clothes” syndrome?

What the hell is tick? A bug which leaves under skin? Or a fugus type of thing?

MJ, what was the trigger for this? Sounds like a story there.

I am with you. I don’t get endurance racing advice from obese people.

Yeah whats matter?

They're tiny parasitic arachnids.

They live in India as well though I assume a different kind than in Europe.

Yes, thats shit here. I had two this year till now. Though without Borrelia its itching weeks long sometimes.
If you suck the bite place some minutes after removing it, than it does barely itch.
I take a plastic bottle, press it and put it on the bite place. That sucks the poison out of the bite.

I m not affraid, look your body every evening after woods visit and you ll be nearly safe.

I actually did that yesterday and it didn't help. Seems like the F*ckers hide somewhere and bite at night.

They can stay hidden in your clothes. I always take off my "forest clothes" and leave them on the balcony for a few days.

I kid you not - my family's record is we found 11 ticks on our son after returning from the woods, most of them still crawling and not attached. It later turned out to be 12; we found the last one the next day, hiding in his belly button (found it because son was scratching it like crazy)!

Incredible. Wow, that’s a lot.

Would a clothes wash cycle get rid of them? Or is that “killing an animal, thou shall not”?

The groups I hang out with are the opposite. Meet time for my 4 wheel group is at 6. 5:30 is the time to be there. Show up at 6 and they are all gone.

They're very resilient but I assume they wouldn't survive that if the temperature were high enough.

I draw the line at aggression and consider it self-defense lol. If I remove a tick I'll throw it out the balcony or wash it down the sink.

Yeah, needless to say we didn't go to that particular area ever again lol.

I agree with @MTF that washing at high temperatures should kill them. The second part is up to you, but I have no mercy for ticks and alikes.

Wish I could. They are workmates who think they have all the time in the world. It's a good thing I'm working on being an entrepreneur. Just four years to go and hopefully, I will have earned the right to choose who to work with. Thanks Antifragile for the effort you put in answering people's queries.

When I grow up, I want to be like you!

Lucky you. They must share your values. When I rebuked them for setting time they knew they couldn't keep, they proudly reminded me that we are Africans. What cheek!
