Anyone have an interest in comic books? Looks like a huge collection going up for auction, court ordered (which means estate sale, IRS confiscation, or something else) while I'm not familiar with comic books as investments, I'm betting this collection is worth a ton of $$$.

I believe it is the official "clearinghouse" for assets seized by the US Government and their many bureaucratic organizations.

Just watched some of the brief announcement by the CDC. New mask mandates are released for people who are fully vaxinated.

If you're fully vaxinated and you're with other people who are fully vaxinated, then you can gather in small groups with other people who are fully vaxinated. And if you're fully vaxinated and want to gather with some family who are not fully vaxinated, then you can do so out doors. If you want to dine outside with other fully vaxinated people then make sure you're fully vaxinated. The science shows that if you're fully vaxinated and you're outside, then you no longer need to wear a mask. If you're outside, you can even be around people who are not fully vaxinated, as long as you are fully vaxinated.

I don't even know how many times she said it to try to get her point across. It was pretty obnoxious. I see it as a push to force more people to get vaxinated now that, "Hey, get vaxinated and you don't have to wear a mask anymore! And, oh yeah, if you didn't get vaxinated yet, you must still wear a mask so everyone can see that you aren't fully vaxinated."

There's an interesting phenomenon I've noticed, and I feel like there should be a name for it but not sure if there is...

Oftentimes, the people who buy a product don't see themselves as the customer or the consumer, but rather "the expert," or even "the seller."

They analyze what they're buying as if it was their product. They put themselves in the shoes of the business. Then they buy it.

It's kind of funny. You see it with guitar players buying expensive guitars played by famous guitar players - they want to be famous too. They probably won't be. But the message is "if you buy this, maybe you will be famous too!"

Same with software like Unity for making games... The company has millions in sales, mostly to people who will never finish a game.

I see the same with Tesla and Elon Musk. Fans invest in the company, but also buy all of the products. They are both the consumers and the investors in many cases.

I guess this is part of the whole "selling identity" thing - and I definitely fall into this too on certain purchases.

Well, I decided to run a marathon in January with a friend of mine who is 25 years older than me. Lol. He has had some health problems and has every excuse not to do this, but he’s now miles ahead of what I can do. If he’s going for this, I decided I needed to grow a pair and go for it.

I have never done anything like that in my entire life. The most I have ever run at a time might be 3 miles.

Here’s the deal though, given enough time, devotion, and discipline… I know for a fact I can make it happen.

Got fitted for a new pair of Brooks shoes this evening and I’ll be strapping them on in the morning for what will undoubtedly be the most torturous of the training days. Day one.

Korea will be testing and implementing a K-ETA system for visas and visa-free countries. Similar for the ESTA in the US it looks like. Will ask some questions, why you're visiting, any diseases, criminal history, etc. Should quicken the process to get into the country. But I think it'll also make it a bit more difficult for visa-runs.

They are probably struggling with the marketing dilemma of:
- how do we show how great it is to have a vaccine for those who have yet to get one
- while still leaving enough fear to sell even more ongoing vaccine's once everyone has it

Kinda hard to connect a BS one time deal with an even worse BS subscription model.

...it is so good to have it but at the same time you still aren't fully safe when you got it... but you should still get it now and enjoy things...but it isn't enough for later though...

Call me a sell-out but I'll get the vaccine to be able to travel freely. I don't see unvaxinated people being able to travel easily anytime soon and I'm not going to lose years of my life not being able to travel or having to do countless tests, quarantines, etc.

Yeah it's an impossible sell if you have no audience.

What would it take for MJ to join your podcast? I can't tell you, but if you had, say, 10.000 listeners he would probably be much more likely to accept your invitation.

Figure out how to get 10.000 listeners first.

I also learned one important thing I also see in my "real life" successful friends. When they start making money and living "the life" of doing what they want and got it all figured out, they actually think they got it ALL figured out.

Entrepreneurs notoriously believe they know everything better than "slowlaners" on any given matter.

The vaccination debate is 100% prove of this.

I am obviously biased as and MD working directly with COVID patients AND knowing more about microbiology, genetics and epidemiology than 99,99% of people.

BUT to think that "successful" people are not able to weigh pros and cons of getting a vaccine and figure out that pros heavily outweighs cons its beyond me.

Also proves that you do not have to be intelligent to make a good amount of money.

There is no "the boys" unless you're talking about Prime's hit series. Your post generalizes people by groups and then applies universal quantifiers to suggest that all people of those groups must think and behave in the same way. I can't think of a less intelligent trait an individual could possess except maybe passive aggression when it serves no benefit to you.

I pointed out a "random thought" in a random thoughts post and or rants thread is all no need to feel passively attacked.

I am not obese nor 80 years old.

This is actually a good point. Entrepreneurs who think they got it all figured out will suffer sooner or later. After my first big success I used to think now I could make anything work.

I failed miserably a few times afterward. Now I tend to believe I'm actually a worse entrepreneur than I thought.

I still don't think it's a useful perspective. Who knows, some entrepreneurs might have it all figured out. Even if they don't, we all suffer sooner or later. That's one absolute I'm willing to bet on.
