questions on amazon and wordpress

For amazon, how did the founders end up creating profit for themselves? Did they earn a commission on items sold on their site, or by means of creating a membership site, or by any other method?

For wordpress, I'm in the process of trying to install it on my computer; however, I'm having problems. For anyone who has successfully installed wordpress, what are the steps you took in allowing it to install and run successfully on your computer? Thanks for the help.

Do you mean how was Amazon started and how it made money?

If so Jeff started it in his garage selling books which he then shipped out.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of present-day amazon, my mistake. How does amazon continue to make profit today, or once they expanded to include books/items the founder did not have in his possession later on? I think it is by commission, though I am not 100% sure. Thanks.

Well they have their own products they send out, some of which are noted by being Amazon as coming from Amazon.

I believe they also do fulfillment.

Then there are thousands and thousands who sell on their like Ebay.
