Backstory: Started a pooper scooper side gig in 2024 just for some minor "fun/easy" money. Picked up a few clients easily, got up to $300/MRR. Then in February of 2025, decided to push it for the rest of the year to see what it could get to. Currently at $1,500/MRR, working on a couple commercial clients that are close to closing. Once this happens, it'll boost the MRR up to $3,000/MRR. Still only offering one service, pooper scooper, have thought about offereing additional services to help bring in or increase reveneue per customer but I feel like that would distract from what is currently making money.
Goal: Now working to grow the business up to $7,000-$10,000/MRR, which would be about 100-125 monthly clients.
Current focus: increase google reviews, streamline service process with the employee, increase Google Search Ranking and SEO. Maintain current ad spend as it brings in 5-10 leads a month.
CENTS
CONTROL - Met; all clients come via referrals/networking/ads
ENTRY - FAIL - anyone can market themselves as a scooper and pick up clients. This has been a pain point in the past for me as you see random high schoolers jump in to get side income. Our selling point, our scooping doesn't stop when they go back to school or winter hits
NEED - Met; once people find out this exists. Typically isn't a hard sell since most people don't want to deal with picking up poop.
TIME - Met; I average 10 hrs a week right now in the business, while the employee does all the scooping. Working to reduce this to 3-5 hrs a week.
SCALE - TBD; I'm in a couple FB groups for scoopers and this business can get up to being multi-million. Though I am not sure if those were just flukes of the business or is attainable in my market.
Any guidance/input/tips will always be appreciated.
