What woman was that or what episode, if you remember? I do it after my back rehab exercise which actually also comes from Tim's podcast with Jerzy Gregorek (The Happy Body). After evening workout which is deadlifts and chins or squats and dips I have a warm shower. So got it fairly right anyway if that woman is correct.
Dr. Rhonda Patrick? I know she supports sauna after workouts to promote GH release.

Thanks for this advice. Been taking cold shower for a few days now, it is awesome!
Feeling really awake and refreshed in the morning.

Interesting, hasn't there been some research with respect to abrupt cold water events?

I know it raises metabolism which is why after ocean swimming you usually want to eat your heart out.
Those of us in the health community would call it a 'hormetic stressor'. Basically you put your body in a minor stressful situation which is good for it.
If you put your face under cold water, it's the only way to activate the diving reflex.

Exposing your core to the cold has a wide array of benefits, derived from turning white fat(bad) into brown fat(good). The body does this to better regulate heat, but you'd hardly believe me if I told you all the benefits of activating brown adipose tissue(they range from better glucose management and insulin sensitivity, to potential links to longevity in humans.) Seriously, check out all the effects listed at Wikipedia: Brown adipose tissue - Wikipedia
