I finished a website for my uncle, which was a good portfolio piece. I made it in WordPress, and it took ages, so I learned how to code websites from scratch with HTML and CSS.​

I just started learning about website creation. installed xampp so I can practice wordpress on a local server so its fully free. I also heard about basic coding like html css and javascript and chatGPT said that I should learn it lol. Why do you go with hml and css instead of wordpress?. Isn't it harder to code websites from a scratch than use wordpress for it?

I'd say if you need a lot of customization and logic then go with programming from scratch. WordPress is nice and quick for a more or less static website imho. Sure there are a lot of plug-ins.

Building from scratch doesn't mean from zero. You use frameworks and libraries like angular and angular material. But sure you need to know about Javascript, css, HTML at least.

I started with wordpress and i would recommend it for any website that frequently changes (eshop, blog) but if you are making simple website for a carpeting company please dont torture yourself with wordpress. Wordpress will take way less time to make BUT way more time to maintain. With my last client I had indexing issues and often the site just didnt load properly and it took me a month to figure out what was wrong. But i think you should make your first few projects in wordpress, youll figure it out whitch you prefer. I wouldnt start with html if i havent got any clients yet.
