Hello! Tais here. I am a Japanese- Brazilian living in Barcelona, Spain.
I am lost and don’t know where to start. After reading the book TMF , I am inspired but frozen. I will start with my situation: I am alone, no safety net, with no savings. So I need to start making some money fast, in the next 2 months. I have burnt out badly in my former 9-5 job so I am not so keen about pursuing the slowlane path.
AI tells me that my own business would take way longer than 2 months to start generating money. But I wanted to know your honest opinions.
My business idea: Transition my validated handmade products sales online. (I have sold lots in local and international markets, but don’t want to continue this slow lane path).
I have the storytelling, the branding and have studied and think AI could help me do it alone (I have to do all, no money to hire).
I have stock, materials, everything, so wouldn’t have to buy anything physical.
The product is related to Japan. Japan image sells, in western countries(Or at least in EU), so I will use Japan’s reputation to attract customers.
I have the CENTS figured out:
Control: my own website, my own company, studying and research everything.
Entry: My own history connection with the product, exclusive, sustainable, innovated materials.
Need: People who need to express they belong to a tribe of artistic, unique, intelectual people, without saying a word.
Time: In the future can be HRd.
Scale: Sell courses, sell other products related, become a brand.
Another way that I thought I could scale my business is by providing services for others artisans who currently rely on physical markets to transition to the online world. like designing their ecom, marketing etc, once I have some experience with my business working. Also courses for building online shop for artisans.
I fear the future with AI. And I think handmade products could survive the AI. Humans will crave this human connection…?
I am open for suggestions as well, a fast way that I can make money freelancing? Something I could self study and start generating income in the near future?
Or if you think my business is not viable, another option? I am really into AI and all its advances, I thought about creating agents, apps, prompts… Even courses for older people on how to use AI. I even thought about creating AI products to Spain’s government, as here the bureaucracy is abnormal. which connects to my other fear: the “self employed status” here in Spain (autonomo). It is very expensive and very easy to get in trouble, because it is so complicated, it is constantly changing and there is no clear information… Tax accountants are not competent so cannot rely.
My experiences (slow lane): Customer service, factory work, paralegal, teaching, content moderation.
Skills: 4 languages, UX design certificate. (No university degree).
Soft skills: I am the lazy person in Steve Jobs or Bill Gates’s quote : “I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it"
My "fuel" is to help vulnerable people and animals. I used to get anguished when I saw suffering, but now it motivates me to think: “wait, I will be coming back with aid”. In the TMF, I identified with MJ’s friend who built a business and then helped the dogs. It would be lovely if I could impact this world positively.
