I am a 50% owner of a 15(ish) year old S-Corp. We started at zero and for a brief time surpassed $5MM in sales. We've fallen off down to the $4MM range, but are looking to fix us. I believe we could easily grow to the 10-15MM revenue point with effort, better leadership and some good decisions.
We are in the construction, facility maintenance, and home services industry. We do residential, commercial, and industrial work. We have about 25 employees (too many overhead, too few production) plus another 10 or so workers under subcontractors. We're in Western PA, but work across multiple states.
I am a college grad, worked in the supplier industry (for one of our now vendors, learning the trade) for 5 years (my partner there for 15), then I left for pharmaceutical sales for 10 years, then opened our business. It took about 5-6 years to finally hit the $1MM mark in sales, then slow continuous growth to $5MM over the next 10 years... and now some struggles have popped up and we're going the wrong direction.
I have not read any of the Books promoted here yet, but am as of now putting them on the shortlist (I have a couple I have to finish first...).
