I registered a business name and went to my local tax office and got a license. After some time thinking about it I decided I don't want to do that type of business anymore. Do I just leave it be and don't reregister next year or do I have to cancel it?

cancel it and you have to close it back out. you should have a plan and be absolutly sure that you are going to be committed to something before taking that step. go back in where you got it and they will advise you on how to close it out.
