Hi everyone. My first post so I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Natasha and I have been living on Maui for the last 10 years but I am originally from British Columbia. I have been lingering around the forum for a couple months reading and commenting a bit but I really want to take it to the next level of engagement. I have read TMF , Rat Race and I am almost done Unscripted . MJ your books are like a breath of fresh air after so much digging and diving in the trenches of the internet and to try and find a way out of feeling stuck working pay check to pay check. So many YouTube videos on drop shipping, affiliate marketing, dividend stocks and endless courses on how to make courses.
My dad was/is an Entrepreneur. He is a pilot and had a small float plane company that did tours around the beautiful mountains that we lived in. I worked for him growing up (ground operations) but unfortunately being a pilot was not something I had any desire to do. He sold the company in 2012 and I moved to the states. Here on Maui I have been a yoga instructor, worked a lot in the service industry as a server/ bartender and a bar manager, I have taught myself to sew and tried to start a couple small business making accessories for babies and kids (Im a mom) and meditation cushions for yoga (neither really worked out). Currently I am working as a sub contractor for an upholstery company which is a really rewarding job to be able to create all sorts of cool projects from designer throw pillows to boat cushions and Biminis to excavator covers and to make old furniture new again.
I feel like I have some specialized skills but I am still working pay check to pay check. I have come a long way I know that but so much of my time must go into work that I really don't have much of a life. My purpose is to feel autonomous, to have control over my life and my time. To be able to give my daughter the time and energy she deserves from me and to show her that she doesn't have to ever depend on a man to provide for her.
The time I am finding now is to study the principles in the books to come up with a specialized unit. Currently most of my ideas are not related to my specialized skills and I know if I am going to be successful I need to focus my efforts into one area. I have full confidence that I will figure it out. I am driven, I am ready, I know this is a marathon and I am geared up and doing it.
Anyway this is me being uncomfortable and doing something I wouldn't normally do. Putting myself out here. I am really grateful for this space and I look forward to sharing my progress and reading about yours!
