Has anyone ever had their mortgage company not pay the insurance that is put into escrow?

I just got a notice of cancellation of my policy. I double checked my mortgage papers and ~30/mo is of my mortgage payment is held in escrow to pay the insurance.

I'm currently trying to get a hold of my mortgage company, but is there something further I can do. I know I can pay the payment in full right now, but I'm still paying the money into escrow every month.
