good afternoon guys. this is one i need clarification on. i've received conflicting emails from providers such as authorize.net, freeauth.net, and even the bank.
i have my business account with wachovia. in an email from the rep i've been dealing with he mentioned this:
"The account we setup is a basic business checking account. If a customer uses this account to have their Merchant Service provider make deposits into their account, its labeled Merchant Service Account. But you still need a Merchant Service Provider to process your transactions. "
upon doing more research. i was going to have the API developed for my website so that it could speak the authorize.net using a "payment gateway" account and deposit the funds into my wachovia account. i was under the impression i did not need their "merchant account".
does this sound correct or am i missing something? would anyone please elaborate on the difference between the two and when to use each.
since the monthly fees are cheaper with a payment gateway only...if possible...i'd like to use a payment gateway account instead of a "merchant account" that they advertise.
thanks,
ryan
