Is there a certain criteria that businesses want when purchasing leads?

I.E. Do they want just emails, more personal information, or more specific information depending on the industry?

LightHouse,

I found this thread and I will be monitoring it. I think once you launch, you will have more questions to make sense of the results. Sorry for the email delay.

The back-end of a lead generation website is 50% of the management, the Web Marketing program is the other half. The marketing is a constant work load, the back-end gets you paid. Don't skimp on the back-end programming, if it is unorganized (slow to get leads) and ugly, your customers will not want to buy leads more often than not. If your marketing is not on par (including lead generation processes like the forms) than the lead quality will suffer and your customers will generate a bad rep on you fast!

Also, to increase conversion rate, hoops must be designed for prospects to jump through or the lead quality is a false positive. This may seems counter-intuitive, but it is true ( I learned the hard way). Prospects willing to jump through hoops are committed and convert to sales fast. Prospects will go all the way through a simple process to seek out a catch if it is not made somewhat difficult. Have any of you clicked the "Add to cart" button to find out the tax and shipping with no intension of buying? Same psychology.

That is all totally dependant on the buyers. On the sites that i will be selling leads, i know what the buyers want because its in the industry that my main business is in, but it is something beyond my capabilities. So if you are setting up a site, you would need to know how a potential buyer would qualify and score the leads once they get them, and try to get them the most qualified leads you can. I am sure a few questions to them and you would figure it out.
