Whats going on guys. I was looking up some stuff online about how much justin bieber makes a year (Curiosity got the best of me). There was no real definitive answer so I'll just leave it to you guys to look it up if you really want to know.

So, I was looking at things like this - Report: Justin Bieber Buys $10.8 Million Home for 18th Birthday | Zillow Blog

When I saw that my jaw dropped. Just the thought of an 18 year old doing that makes a lot of people thinking "Erm, what have I been doing with my life! :nonod:".

I honestly have never had any negative feelings towards most celebrities like this. I mean, the kid hit it big with talent and a little luck, I can't see why people HATE him to such a degree, besides envy and jealously of course.

So really, what do you think of this kid?

Don't like his music. I'm a metalhead.

He got lucky. Right place, right time. Started on YouTube, got found by a recording studio who decided that a little white boy from Canada with a lesbian haircut should be the 'next big thing'. They invested millions into him and the investment paid off in spades.

He doesn't make the real money. He's a Slowlane cog in a Fastlane machine. So I think nothing of him. Kudos to him for his success, though: I hope he has a good money manager for later in life.

I have no singing ability, so comparing myself to him (or anyone really in any field) is a waste of time and usually only leads to envy.

Frankly, good for him, but he's irrelevant to my life. I want to own the company that more or less employs him.

Funny I have tickets for his concert in 3 days.

How did i wind up on yahoo.thefastlaneforum.com....

I'd take that slow lane life any day of the week. The thing with Bieber, Kardashians, and companies like Apple is you either love them or you hate them. There is no in between. Probably one of the best ways to create an empire in my opinion.

Kinda off topic: My buddy had a picture of a guy on facebook named Justin Bieber. Only this guy was 60 years old and had to change his first name to his middle name because of the mass amount of attention he was receiving simply because of his name. That day would truly suck, when your 60 and an 18 year old becomes famous with your name. Reminds me of that commercial with the white guy name being Michael Jordan, and everyone he came in contact with was highly depressed it wasn't the real MJ.

Also, I wouldn't say its pure luck. I personally dont know any people that were putting themselves up there and uploading videos on youtube at such a young age.

I'd also disagree completely with the second part. Making 51M a year before 18 is NOT slowlane. It doesnt matter how you got there or what you do. The reason you take the fastlane is to be financially free, he is.

Indifferent. He's alright in my book, but he's not inspiring me to me as far as celebrities go.

But I can't use him as my reference to be famous or fastlane or anything. He is just there... I can't sing well... so nope won't help my life.

I can see why he's famous, but that could be anyone who happen to be at the right place and at the right time. I will say he is almost pure luck, but the pure luck part was to get his foot in the door. It wasn't luck that he is an international star.

That takes drive... go back to 2003 to JoJo... she had it all, 13 yrs old... she could had been huge. But now she's practically an E-list star (she's like 21).... Her reasoning, "she doesn't like the pop sound", and her record label took too long to get her another album. She screwed up, in my opinion, it wouldn't matter what I would had to do to keep my fame, I'll do it.

I think that he was fortunate to get picked up and told how to play the game by people who were already in the industry.
His music may be a bit queer, but this dude is living the life following his dream- he fit the bill as a whole for becoming a performer and went for it... Why you so mad for?
F*%k his music, but good for him... hes very successful.

He made a product (music) that fit a need (people love music) created a brand (his "boyish" charm) and used marketing techniques (youtube and what not) to become recognized by someone with the ability to use his product and brand to meet millions of needs. The kid didn't get lucky, he made his own luck. Now, by no means do I have "Beiber Fever", nor do I even like his music. Heck, you could argue being good looking was lucky as well, but I respect what he accomplished and his ability to do it at a young age. His success is more than what most of us can tout at this time. I agree he better learn to manage money early though. Music, just like any entertainment career, has a tendency to create bankruptcy stories after the fame wears off.

He's 18.

I don't think he actually thought it all out on how to become famous. He was just discover because he was born with what he has. He didn't made his image (boyish charm), he didn't fill a need besides being a kid who can sing, the record label fill the need to the masses. Without the record label, he would be just a one-hit wonder in youtube history. That's where the luck played.

To me he's a product of his record label, he's not his own product. Which is two separate things. Britney Spears at the beginning of her career was just a product too. Madonna never was just a product.

It doesn't matter though. Whatever makes money.

To me he goes down in history like Paul Anka, Leif Garret, Frankie Avalon... Paul Anka was discover because of his looks by the way. Fame is weird, sometimes its just luck and sometimes there's a process. I think Justin Bieber has both in it.

Paris Hilton was lucky to be born into the right family, lucky that her boyfriend put out the homemade video, lucky she was pretty to many people. But her process came in when she thought, "I am going to play this dumb blonde bimbo for how long it lasts" then it became fastlane.

And whether or not he put in the effort to become what he is or if he was simply "discovered" requires to much effort on my part for this particular debate. I think that the ends nullify the means though. Something was done correctly for him to be in that position, and the 99% of us not in a position similar to his clearly did not do those things or do them as well.

That house is pretty awesome!

If his documentary isn't misleading the kid has worked his a$$ off for his success and continued success. Kudos to him!

I applaud him for this, he found a niche and filled it perfectly.

We are following our passion for business, which takes a little longer, and only goes as far as you let it. It is 2 completely different animals.

Theres no such thing as luck. Its opportunity meeting hard work. Im not a fan of his but I do know he did not get where he is without hard work. He practiced singing, playing instruments and what he is known famous for. He was born with natural talent but there are millions out there just like that. He put himself out there and worked his a$$ off.

I remember seeing him go station to station all across the U.S. to HUNDREDS of stations night after night, while still being home schooled. If anything this forum has thought us is that luck plays little role into becoming wealthy. Whats harder is keeping the wealth which he has done. He was born with good looks but maintaining a good body and image is not all that easy.

People invested money into him AFTER he put in all the work, not before. Before that he used to sing in high schools, on the street and many many more places. A lot of people would not go through that just because of the constant struggle.

Him becoming famous and a millionaire was an event, the process was years and years of work he had to do which most people do not see.

Got. Lucky.

He could have been like all of the other unfound artists on YouTube. There are tons of them, many who have 'made it' in their towns. Plenty of people have done all the right things and are still stuck somewhere in mediocrity, playing in their indie bands that play more gigs than they sell records. And they are talented people.

As far as what he does being Fastlane... you're almost right. He gets a small cut from every record he sells. And he's 18 so he keeps all the money. He sells records (need), most people can't do what he does (entry), he sells them in every country in the world (scale), and he could sleep and still make money (time). However, he didn't decide that his music was going to fill a 'need': a producer did. He has no control over his income. His producers make all his decisions: they write (many of) his songs, they do the distribution, and they tell him where he has to perform. Once they say that Bieber Fever is out, guess what: it's out, and so is he.

biophase said:

Yea ok... do you even know his history?
I'm extremely closed-minded when it comes to music. Every so often, I will look for music that is deliberately like the music I listen to. It's trouble at karaoke when people tell me to sing and I don't know any of the songs in the book.

My buddy dared me to listen to all of Justin Bieber's music back in 2011. I did it. Didn't like a single song.

I'll admit: I'm extremely jealous of Bieber's success. I'm a year older than he and I've done very little. I have random accomplishments here and there but he's traveled the world, probably been with many beautiful women, met some of the world's powerful people, became one of the world's most powerful people, and his name has a similar effect on the late 2000's/early 2010s as the Backstreet Boys has on the late 90s.

This makes me think of another idea: If you were Justin Bieber, net worth approximately $112 million USD (2011), and you just finished your last tour with the option to record another album or retire, which would you take? And if you decided to retire, what would you do?
