Hey there!
I'm Abhishek,
I'm starting this thread for two reasons:
First, to keep myself accountable in this journey.
Second, to get to know you'll, be friends, and share insights together.
Background:
I'm from India (from literally the poorest state in it). My parents are farmers who barely earn enough for our survival.
I completed my BBA last year.
Joined an internship for 6 months at a stipend of $70 a month.
- Learned proper English (both written and spoken)
- Figured out the professional world for the first time.
Then I worked as content writer here for $100/month.
- I was fooled by a rascal here. He sold me some big promises in future.
Then jumped to a job LinkedIn manager in an agency at $300/ month.
- Learned graphic designing.
- Figured out social media (especially LinkedIn)
- Ghostwritten and designed content for 2 CEOs.
Then switched to a similar freelance gig that paid me $500/month for half the work
- Managed 1 CEO account
- Dived even deeper into LinkedIn
All of these took me about 2 years.
I know it may sound ridiculous but I really had no choice.
I had zero skills, zero connections, and no prior experience.
These opportunities was all that I had.
Present:
Right now, I'm skilled enough to easily get gigs and earn enough for my personal expenses.
- I'm really good with the language. (both writing and spoken)
- My communication skills are a solid 8/10
- Social media designing skills 8/10 (here's my portfolio)
- I have a basic understanding of almost everything regarding business and Internet.
- I have some connections who are always ready to help.
Future:
Now, I want to turn my ambiguous skills into a specialised service.
Then turn that skill into a specialised product.
Here's what I've planned for the coming 6 months:
1) I am going to educate myself systematically on social media marketing.
2) To build an asset (while practicing the Fynmann technique) simultaneously, I'm going to start a substack blog where I'll publish what I learn.
3) To prevent myself from falling for mental masturbation loop, I'm going to build a solid LinkedIn profile and post consistently to it.
4) I'll build a strategic network of individuals on LinkedIn.
5) Meanwhile all these, I'll keep finding and doing freelance gigs.
That's all for today.
I'll keep you updated every week.
About the wins, the looses, and the stagnancy.
Everything.
Please feel free to critique my plan or advice me for anything. I know I cannot be right at everything.
Thank you!
