Hello all!
I am keen on understanding the current legal landscape surrounding cold emailing in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). As the region has distinct regulations concerning email outreach, it's crucial to stay updated to ensure compliance and effectiveness in our marketing strategies.
From my understanding:
I'm reaching out to seek insights from anyone who has recent experience or knowledge about cold emailing in the DACH region. Have there been any notable changes in regulations recently? How are businesses adapting their cold emailing strategies to comply with these laws, and what best practices are being followed to ensure legal compliance and effectiveness in email outreach?
IMPORTANT: I know there is a lot of grey area here, with people sending emails and cold calling and not having any problems and others deeming it totally illegal. If the email is not salesy at all, is it still a problem? If it is genuinely personalized? Is LinkedIn cold outreach legal?
Thank you in advance for your valuable input!
P.S. Also saw this deeming all cold email illegal, but saw mixed reviews / opinions...

From my understanding:
- Germany requires explicit consent from recipients before sending promotional messages.
- Austria mandates a clear and easy opt-out mechanism for recipients.
- Switzerland emphasizes respecting recipient preferences and avoiding irrelevant or inappropriate emails.
