Hello Together,
After reading The Millionaire Fastlane and Unscripted (not finished yet) from @MJ DeMarco – ok, to be honest, I’m lazy when it comes to reading, so I’m listening to the audiobook instead – I struggled for a few days with the decision whether to register here or not. But I think it was a good idea.
Who am I?
My name is Florian, I’m 33 years old, married, and living with my wife and our four dogs in my parents’ house in Austria (legally ours, but you know how that goes …). I have a degree in Mechatronics, lots of business experience, and 9 years as a regional CEO of a social organization. Some might say I’m a lucky guy … Isn’t this the perfect script-life? I’m working hard, earning good money (at least that’s what I thought for a long time), I have a house, a wife, I’m healthy – so why should I complain? Oh, and the inevitable question: When will you have kids?
To be honest … I already realized that I wasn’t happy long before reading The Millionaire Fastlane . And to be really honest … I only picked up the book because I thought it was just another brochure on how to make money fast.
The reality?
I’m extremely unhappy with my job. Taking over my parents’ house was the worst decision I’ve ever made – we had to take out a €250k loan to renovate it. My wife suffers from depression, so she can’t work, which also puts a strain on our relationship (along with other issues caused by me). My job is killing me – not only do I work 60 hours a week in my job and am on duty the rest of the time, but there’s also constant negativity and toxic people around me. Can I quit? No. Because the “good salary” just barely keeps us afloat. Without it, we couldn’t afford to keep all of our dogs – and giving one away is not an option. Additionally i work arround 10-20 hours for my business, which really brings me to the hard-limit at the moment.
The script says we should have kids by now … and yes, I would have loved that too, but for unknown biological reasons it hasn’t happened. Still, we are really happy with our dogs – they’re the only thing that makes life a little bit worthwhile at the moment.
And yes, there was also a real “F*ck you moment” in my life – but that’s another story.
Pretty depressing … I didn’t even realize how depressing it all was until I read The Millionaire Fastlane and especially Unscripted . Honestly, writing this introduction makes it feel even heavier.
What is my “Meaning and Purpose”?
Damn, just writing the last paragraph makes it even clearer:
What is my business idea?
I launched my business a few years ago – not with the goal of making a lot of money, but simply to finance a dog trainer course. Over the years the business has grown, and now I see a huge opportunity behind it. We’ve already invested more than €130k, most of which is already paid off by income. Today, we’ve established ourselves as proven experts in dog training – especially scent detection and canine fitness – for everyday owners, but also for professional handlers.
Even though we’ve been struggling with “low income” in recent years, I’ve realized (thanks to the books) that there are mainly two reasons for this:
So what’s next?
Motivated by MJ’s books (especially Unscripted ), I will now give EVERYTHING to focus on new strategies in my business. My goal: to quit my job within the next 18 months.
I'll give everything ... ok, not true ... i still want to fokus on my wife - i love her - and we'll keep our dogs on Priority number one ... if we'll ever be in the situation not to have enough money for food ... they come first! I know this is a bit against the millionare fastlane Idea ... but this is MY personal Script!
I’m really looking forward to learning from all of you. Even just writing this post has really motivated me – so this already feels like my first positive experience here in the forum.

What is my “Meaning and Purpose”?
Damn, just writing the last paragraph makes it even clearer:
- I want to be financially independent from an uncontrollable environment.
- I want to help my wife overcome her depression and be able to care for her needs – emotionally and financially.
- I want to live on a small farm where all our animals can have a really great home (right now it’s dogs, but there will probably be more in the future
).
- I want to live before I get old.
- I want to live before I die!
- There is no leverage – we’re selling our time as dog trainers, which means we’re limited again.
- I’m still stuck in my main job, so my attention is split and I can’t fully focus on the business.
So what’s next?
Motivated by MJ’s books (especially Unscripted ), I will now give EVERYTHING to focus on new strategies in my business. My goal: to quit my job within the next 18 months.
