Sup TFLF,
You know me as a guy who does something so valuable and difficult that if I said I'd get laughed at for being overambitious. (I do it, by the way, process is moving forward. )
I'm temporarily bootstrapping with sales.
I've partnered with a courier company and I’m selling delivery services in certain American states. USP is that we are 30% cheaper than everybody else which is pretty strong and companies (should) look forward to it.
My sales strategy is (simple?) to:
1. Get the company-wide number in my CRM.
2. Call the number. It’s always either of 1) voice menu 2) reception, 3) customer service,
1. With reception or customer service, ask to transfer me to the relevant department. Sometimes they have it, sometimes they don’t, but after calling for the week I’ve never had somebody pick up the phone - I may leave them a voicemail if it’s possible.
2. With voice menu, I’ve gotten data on my CRM for relevant departments and (after low success in first three days), started simply calling the living f out of every number. Professionals, their managers, the c-level… I call about a dozen numbers per company (every available name in the list), and it’s all just voicemail. So, more voicemail, no talking to prospects.
3. And so we are left with hundreds of calls done already, in where I’ve spoken to 2-3 prospects, and those prospects were low value calls, like bottom-tier individual workers in logistics - which asked me to simply send them an email afterwards.
I’ve read books like *Fanatical Prospecting* before, so I know the drill - get calling high-value prospects, but it seems not to work. I’ve left hundreds of voicemails and got not a single callback - and I’m clear, giving a great offering, and brief (sub 45 seconds, most info delivered in first 10-15).
I also send 50 or so emails daily, but I didn’t get a response so far either.
How to do it right? I thought it would go smoother.
Cheers.
Edit 1: I'm calling 200-1000 people companies. Deal size is ~0.5m, but the prospects would already spend 750k or so. We save 0.25m to any customer on average.
Edit 2: basically, the question is how to avoid people not picking your phone up.
