How would you reach teachers and homeschool parents?

Marketing, social media, advertising

If you had an educational game you were marketing for use by K-5 students, and you wanted to market it to teachers (and school principals and admin) as well as homeschool parents, what channels would you use? Google Ads? Facebook and Instagram? Pay YouTubers to talk about your product? Give it away for free first?

I'm speaking from experience here (I was homeschooled). I would probably advertise at a homeschool conference. Homeschooler influencers (bloggers, youtubers, podcasters, etc.) are another great route. Word of mouth is ultimately the way it is going to travel.

I think you're right -- word of mouth is far more powerful than traditional advertising.

Maybe you can find K-5 teachers with a sizable blog or social media following and offer them the game for free to try during class, in exchange for an honest review.

If the students like it, they will talk about it too, word will spread, and hopefully people will start looking for copies of the game to buy.

Giving away free copies will cost you a bit upfront, but you might be able to get the same exposure as buying ads, while also building up relationships in your market.

I think this is wise and I am going to take this advice -- thank you.

why only homeschoolers? A lot of parents would be interested. Why not look for the bigger market share?

- Mommy bloggers / vloggers / instagrammers etc.
- Teachers who are shilling an MLM. Give them a better alternative (e.g. an affiliate link). It's 99% sure they are losing money with their MLM, so they'll probably be happy to switch, but they've already proven that they have the guts to sell something. And it's easy to find them, because their social media posts are full of hashtags for their MLM.
- Facebook/instagram/youtube ads targeting the demographic
- Free accounts for educators/ professors who have soon-to-be teaching grads in their classes
- Go down to the local school administration building and get approved to go into the teacher's lounge and set up a display & presentation. Bring snacks. Even if this is just a one-off thing (not scalable), you'll get amazing feedback that you can incorporate into future marketing materials and app development. Like, what are their objections? You'll know after you do this a few times.
- Local homeschool groups almost always have a newsletter or email list. Ask how to publish an ad.
- Table/booth at a homeschool conference
- Book yourself as a breakout session speaker at a homeschool conference
- Attend teacher/ education / curriculum trade shows
