Hi GoalSumo.com team,

Still using the app on a daily basis and loving it!

I just wanted to bring your attention on what seems a small bug. You set a rule to avoid updating DailySumos that are more than 5 days old. That's perfectly fine to me and I guess it's to avoid some kind of cheating and promote consistency.

However, it's not working properly as even younger DailySumos can't be edited. As an example, I'm posting on the 4th of July and I can't edit the DailySumo related to the 1st of July (and I get the usual warning message about 5d old DailySumos).

That could be a bit frustrating when you just went through an intense working period for a few days and can't track this on the app. Nothing critical, just wanted to help a bit. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for letting us know. I have placed this functionality on our bug board and will revisit it. We made major updates to the DailySumo (Although it doesn't appear any different from your side as a user) last month, and it's possible this logic is not quite right.

Concern heard!

I am amazed by how much impact this has made in my life since starting a month ago.

Here are the benefits that I've experienced
- Focus on the main goal: it's so easy to get swayed or overwhelmed by many things that need to get down to be learned. I often found myself trying to do everything and not get anything done. this framework keeps my head simple and I know what I am doing is towards the bigger goal.
- Feeling rewarded: Every time I can check off what I've accomplished each day, I know I took small steps toward producing value-added products and I did all I could for the day.
- A higher level of commitment: The art of thinking through this and ACTUALLY writing things down registers differently in my brain. I feel like no matter what happens, I need to follow through to honor my commitments

Hey, I got weird behavior when I tried to sign up using my Google account, I selected my account and nothing happened, I did it a few times and then went back a page and was redirected to the dashboard, not sure if it was a one time error, but I wanted to report it anyway because this might cause you to lose users.

I'm also using Firefox btw.

Sounds like you’re building towards some great progress on GoalSumo.com! Thanks for the feedback!

Everything you mentioned as a benefit was a goal of ours, so your feedback is super helpful to let us know we’re on the right track.

Have any feature requests? We’d love to see them on Ideas.goalsumo.com

I tried using my own "free" paper version, but then I realized there are a lot of repetitive tasks / regular maintenance tasks that were not value adding.

Hi @Dean Irwin,
I added some suggestions. Thanks for the great tool. I am still figuring out how to use it to the full potential, but I've been generally happy with GoalSumo.

@MJ DeMarco In your goals, what are the numbers for piano? 10/20, 2/20? Is it time spent?

I've been learning French on Duolingo for cognitive function. My streak is at 322 days. For anyone thinking of learning a language, it's a good place to start. Won't make you fluent, but it isn't overwhelming while you start learning the basics.

20 minutes or 2 songs minimum.
Sometimes I'll run through my repertoire and sometimes I'll work on perfecting one song....no mistakes. Do you play any of your pieces from memory? That is also fun and great for muscle memory and cognitive function...plus you can impress when you are out somewhere, and have no music with you. (Unfortunately, I do not have my piano at the moment...can't wait to have it back!!)

Honestly MJ. Nothing but VALUE.

I know this thread is going to be seen by a lot of youngsters, as well as me being a youngster - let me tell ya this.

What MJ is saying is nothing but pure facts. This is where your execution relies on. It doesn't rely on that stupid quotes app, that poster on your wall, the affirmations you tell yourself, your future, your past, your stupid business plan.

THE EXECUTION IS WHAT ONLY MATTERS.

Trust me - I've wasted a year on doing stupid so called "self-improvement" - like do F*cking meditation, take a breath in till you knock out unconscious - obv meditation is all good. But, you are doing meaningless shit that makes you feel good.

Note - self improvement is the way to go ahead - no doubt. However, do not let it action fake you.

As MJ calls it "Action faking". That is what you are doing.

Now, doing what MJ mentioned above is NOT hard. You WILL overthink and that is okay. You probably never have done this before. You are used to TAKING ORDERS, you probably never have done something that YOU WANTED TO DO.

As MJ mentions you want to literally F*cking convert from CONSUMERS to PRODUCERS.

It's NOT hard. You will only overthink it. I promise you. It is NOT hard.

Peace be upon you all.
100%!! DO . THE . WORK!!

@MJ DeMarco LOVE this post --- this is golden "You do not rise to the level of your goals; you rise to the level of your systems."

Systems work 24/7 making it possible to scale

Any plans for an Android/IOS version of GoalSumo?

What about a PC/Mac software application for the same?

Yes, a work in progress.

When released, we're likely to have a mobile version and a desktop version that will bring a more native feel to all devices. It's a big technical undertaking and has been a multi-month project moving GoalSumo mechanics offline and towards a mobile app.

When the native clients start development, We'll have a better idea of the release date. Will keep this thread posted.

Thanks for the reply!

I can't use your service due to my age (although I did try the trial version), but I would definitely use it as soon as I can lay my hands on some money.

Thanks for sharing it MJ. I'll read more related posts and consider how can I apply to my current situation. I don't know what to do with my life now. Don't even know what my goal is?
Maybe my goal is figuring out what is my goal?

Hi MJ, would you mind sharing the recipe of your health elixir please?

Maybe my goal is figuring out what is my goal?

We've put together over 80 goal templates, 60 bucket list templates, and 20 kaizen value templates readily available. If you're looking for some ideas, it might be useful to browse through it, and it might spark some ideas, or you might find something that applies to your current situation.

While specific goals are great, we encourage starting with something simple and broad, and making specific goals to help build towards that broader term goal.

You can give it a try and see if something speaks to you :)

Hi MJ, would you mind sharing the recipe of your health elixir please?

Pomegranate juice + water (Base)
Spirulina
Chlorella
Tumeric
Ashwaganda
Electrolytes
Bioperine
Trans-Resveratrol
Plus a Scoop of this... (which is some more of the same)

Thank you for the push to actually engage, first steps I've learnt here for me to improve my business and life:
1. Make goals
2. Visualise
3. Make it a habit
4. Daily tasks toward goals
5. Motivate it

My first goal is to use the practical resources you have provided us to finally make a decent amount of money from my web design business I have been floundering in/"trying" to build for over 8 years:
  • Try Goal Sumo and your planner: "GoalSumo.com.com. Yes, I'm pushing the system I use myself and co-founded. But don't worry— if you're more inclined towards traditional methods, you can download my 1/5/10 Planner for FREE."
  • Finish reading your Millionaire Fastlane book that's been on my bedside table over a year now
  • Find better paying clients - I know my services are high quality I just need to back myself and fill in the missing knowledge/experience in sales funnels (and the tactics I'm about to learn from this blog and the book)
Thanks for your continual work MJ!
Michelle

Thank you for sharing MJ!

Do you take it the first thing in the morning?

BTW I have subscribed to the annual plan. Loving it so far!

I used Duolingo too for German and got to just over a 365 streak but in the end, I kept finding myself having a hard time having an actual conversation. I found Duolingo is good for building vocabulary but I think Mango is better to learn useful phrases and to build full sentences. I wish I had started with Mango. It should be available for free through your local public library.
