INCREDIBLE TIP: You must use your Email in an unorthodox manner.
I've been using email to organize literally my entire life.
What do I mean by this? Email drafts.
You probably never thought of this but you can actually write emails and never send them out as your own personal writing and organization system. It's very unlikely that your emails will ever get lost, stole, or whatever because email is one of those things that will be with you for your entire life. You can even put your email drafts in their own labels and have them branch into other more complex information like documents or other software and seriously begin to organize all the shit your life. Unlike a book, personal server, hdd, or whatever email is reliable till death.
Writing down personal things will help you stay on track with whatever it is you're trying to accomplish or do. Hell, it can even be used to enhance your slowlane activities like videogames, tv, or whatever it is you're after. I would know because I used it for those items. But, I've begun using it for slightly more constructive things recently like reading, investing and other things.

Most of these drafts are loaded with information to myself about how to improve or indulge in whatever it is I'm after. If you were to open up one of my drafts you would find a giant draft email full of links to all sorts of stuff that I find interesting enough to write down and read to myself later on so I can continue to do and improve in XYZ activity. For instance, I'm tracking my progress with hitting the gym and I have links to google documents on each and every rep I'm doing as well as my sets, nutrition planning, grocery list, and other tentative stuff that I'm trying to incorporate in my routine. And in another draft, I have a list of music I frequently listen to. Or I may have stuff relating to my web development business, who I met or what I learned that was notable, what cool tools I can use, bookmarks etc...
It's important to track your progress on WHATEVER it is you're after. Otherwise, you won't know if your improving or progressing.
Anyway, the point is this can be a incredible way to organize all the crap you're doing in your life. After all personal writing and life are both progressions. We all have different areas and things we find interesting but let's face it it's hard to keep track off all the stuff we have to learn or work on. This is where writing stuff down for you to read up on later helps tremendously.
