The Other day I was reading this very Interesting book about Memory and Improving your memory.
Dominic O'brien that author who is a 8 times worls champion in memory competitions shares some incredible systems to memorize stuff, and you can see a improvements Instantly.
Right now If I named you 10 random Objects only once you would probably remember about 4-5 on average.
After I share the system with you , not only will you be able to name all the 10 objects right away in the exact same order, you will be able to do it backwards as well!
Thats not all, if I ask you in 2h again or in 2 days again, a week, 2 weeks...You will be able to name do it.
3 KEYS TO A BRILLIANT MEMORY:
1. Imagination (Exagaration)
2. Location
3.Association
The System: The Journey method. Lets try it out.
The 10 random words: Sand,Torch,Bathtub,Football,Gnome,Rope,Card,Door,Lion,River,Target.
Imagination and Location:
Instead of trying to memorize the words the way you normaly would do it, we are going to Imagine You're walking in a Desert (1. Sand)
You walk and see A torch (2.Torch) , you pick it up and start walking further and there is a big shiny Bathtub (3.) You can also Exagarate it and imagine a Funny looking bathtub maybe it's red or green, or Huge.
In the Bathtub you see a Football (4.)
You pick up the football and kick it it hits a gnome (5) ,now you can imagine the number 5 on the gnome, there is alao a Rope (6) around the Gnome, you start walking further and see A Card (7) maybe the card could be Huge, almost the size as you or as a Door and the number 7 is written on it.
You can Open the Card like a door, inside you see a Lion (8) maybe he is playing poker or doing something funny, imagine the Lion getting scared and Jumping into a River (9) and imagine the River ending with a big Target (10).
Fun fact: I used the same example as in the book I read 10 days ago.
Now you try.
Thats only 1 of many Systems, there is a System for Numbers and Names.
Practice it, you can try then with 15 words, 20,30 words and Improve your memory over time.
