I have an addiction to an item that causes several health issues I'd rather not develop.
Despite all the serious health issues that may be caused by continued consumption of my most beloved carbonated beverages, I know I won't be able to give them up without showing my commitment somewhere first.
So these are my rules: No more pop for the rest of this month. After that I can have the equivalent of two cans a week. The two can rule can be broken if it's being used as mix, since I don't drink often enough to fret over it.
Ok, so it's not a cold-turkey plan, but it's much better than the 3 liters a week on average, which can get a lot higher some weeks. (Like the recent sale for packs of 6 710ml bottles for $2. I can easily go through at least three of those bottles a day.)
In case you got this far and you're wondering... I won't downgrade to diet, either. Half the problems are because of the acid, the other half would be replaced by aspartame (Apparently poisonous... Tastes like hell.) or sucralose (Tastes better, doesn't get metabolised, but it makes for sticky excrement. :/ )
- This substance, easily gotten by the liter is known to have addictive properties.
- It's potentially linked to calcium depletion in the bones.
- It's a strong cause of tooth decay.
- Consumption is said to interfere with digestive acids, causing bloating and other digestive issues.
- Abuse can lead to diabetes.
- Abuse can lead to obesity.
- Abuse can lead to heart problems.
