Hey all,
I am a junior doctor working in Sweden. I've been procrastinating starting a business for too long and I want to get started. I always have some excuse for why now is not the right time/waiting for the right idea, but I am aware of this and I am working on it.
In Swedish healthcare, a major problem is knowing what medications a patient is on. This might seem horrifying, and it is. Some elderly patients are part of a system that ships their medications "pre-packaged" in plastic bags and are easily available in an electronic system. Most patients do not have this system however, and we have to rely on patient's memory, outdated information from past visits etc. The most rewarding experience is when a patient has written down their medications on a piece of paper and laminated it. I think this says something about a need for more clear information.
I am considering developing an app that lets patients add their medications. It should contain links to relevant information about side effects/dosage/why they are prescribed. I am considering a freemium model - free to download, pay per month (something low like $4-5) for access to push notifications when to take medicines, links to extended information about the drugs and diagnoses, etc. I have a attached a rough mockup for the design.
Would you download such an app if you had, say, 5-6 medications, which is not uncommon (just think about high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases etc)?
