A little background:
It was 2009. At the time I was taking classes during the day and working with clients after. The submission deadline for an award show (The AIME awards) was that night. I had already submitted two videos (which went on to win for "Best Corporate Video" and "Best Original Soundtrack") but I really wanted to at least get nominated for "Best Comedy".
Me and a few buddies checked an SD camera out, went to the plaza and improved a story line. We shot this in about an hour, I edited it in the next hour, we submitted it and it got nominated.
Really horrible video, and the humor in it isn't for everybody, but if you watch it through to completion it grows on you.
Some really good unpolished ideas I might use later for a legit comedy web-series.

The video did get nominated, it obviously lost. But it KILLED in the theater. A theater packed full of people laughing at my stupid video still resonates as a major changing point in my life.
The guy who won "best comedy" got 0 laughs. During his acceptance speech he said "wow... I don't know why I got this. I think DJ should have won." which was crazy.
The devilishly handsome chubby guy with the big indie beard calling himself DJ is me.
PS: I'd pay big money to see 20,000 Ninjas Under The Sea
