Developing/Manufacturing a product questions...

hey guys, I have been working on developing a certain product for a while now with a pretty cool twist to it but have been very hesitant due to the legal issues with new products because I am very unfamiliar with it all. Without spilling what eactly my product is, it is basically something to make things smell better but I am wondering what type of standards the product would have to meet to be able to legally be sold, if I could start to manufacture it from home (which I would prefer to do, but im not sure if its legal), how to get it approved to be sold due to the fact it is a scent and I am not sure if it will have to be examined by chemists to make sure it is not harmful to the consumer...any advice? I really think its a great alternative to some products currently out on the market and would love to pursue the making and marketing of it but just unsure of how to get started... thanks everybody :thankyousign:
