Hi guys. I am a big fan of the process approach to life (as opposed to goals). It has always seemed to me though that it’s easier to apply in areas of life other than money-making.
For example, my process for slimming is: eat primarily protein and fat, drink only water, tea, coffee. Easy-peasy to apply daily, works fine without a tension-creating weight goal.
Another process I do is writing a minimum 260 words daily intended for publication on my future blog. Been doing that for 4 weeks, six blog posts written.
I even have a slowlane process that works fine for me: note down every expenditure. This makes me spend less over time.
But how to apply the process approach to exploding income? I did not know how, so I did a brainstorm, coming up with 20 potential daily habits that could lead to Fastlane speed.
As usual in brainstorming, not all had identical value. You may eve laugh at some, that is fine.
Next I ordered them into categories, as below:
Magical thinking
1. Visualizing living with wealth
2. Wealth affirmations
3. Praying for wealth
Preparatory but insufficient, passive as well
4. Reading business books
5. Reading marketing books
6. Reading sales books
7. Reading accounting books
8. Reading inspiring biographies
9. Reading Fastlane forum
Preparatory but insufficient, active
10. Thinking of obstacles to achieving wealth
11. Listing reasons why I want to be wealthy
12. Listing reasons why it sucks to be poor
13. Writing down financial goals
14. Writing down business ideas
15. Checking my account
Real actions
16. Approaching potential clients
17. Noting down unfulfilled market needs
18. Designing the products
19. Doing promotion
20. Meeting entrepreneurs
I know it would seem to be wise to do only the ‘real actions’. However, the resistance I feel for the magical actions convinces me to do them. I think my mind still does not accept the idea that I could be truly rich.
I decided to commit to do one action daily from each category, combining them into a single morning ritual.
The first action will be vividly imagining my future wealthy lifestyle for a minimum of 5 minutes. This part will be an exploration also, to see what will really tickle my desires. Might be things I do not expect now. I aim to intensify my ambition and desire this way.
The second action will be to read the Fastlane forum to get inspiration and delve deeper into the mindset.
Next I will write down my financial goals for next 7 years, 3 years, 1 year, 6 months. This is to make thinking about money and future more normal to me. I realize about myself that I have been a very ‘now’ focused, ‘go-with-the flow’ individual. This needs to change if I want more than OK future. (Bcs if you go with the flow, everything is just OK).
And finally, I will write down at least 2 unfulfilled market needs I can see around me to get my business sensors active for the day.
All those actions will be marked as one habit on a Trello board, where I will be noting how well I am sticking to them. The plan is to do them for 90 days straight, then evaluate.
I am expecting that this ritual will give me inspiration for other actions, both listed above and ones about which I did not think before.
Before posting this to the forum I completed those actions for the first time. Surprisingly, the hardest part was keeping my mind on the things I want for the whole 5 minutes.
All right, I am open to your suggestions. What processes I did not think of? Would you prioritize different ones? Is writing financial goals down a direct opposition to the stated preference of focusing on process, not goal?
What processes, repeated daily, would explode the value I create and hence the money I can receive in return? Which ones of them can be applied while still giving up 9 hours/day to a job?
Thanks in advance for your input.
