I agree: practice, experience, and talent normally determine who wins a contest. Yet there are exceptions. In 1980, the American Hockey team beat the Russian Hockey Team in the "Miracle on Ice". They had a 1-in-1000 chance of winning. Supposedly, the Russians where use to demolishing opponents, and the Americans defense unnerved them, causing them to change some plans and shuffle players. This took them out of their normal offensive game, and caused them to start reacting to what the Americans where doing.

A big part of Conor's plan should be to frustrate Mayweather, and take him out of his normal game. Personally, I expect Conor to try and make the fight a "hug-fest", man-handle Mayweather, and go for upper-cuts. If he tries to box Mayweather, he should get easily picked a part.

Conor posted a picture of sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi on the ground. Conor's camp said Paulie was knocked down, Paulie's camp said he was pushed. I believe Paulie, and I think Conor was practicing his ability to man-handle a boxer. I expect to see Floyd pushed to the ground, too. It may cost points during the fight, but if it takes Mayweather out of his game, Conor might get a chance to land his left-hand.

I watched an MMA fight, where it was illegal to hit a fighter who had one-hand on the ground, and one of the fighters kept kneeling and touching the ground. The other fighter simply did a dead-lift and picked the guy up in the air, let go of him, and nailed him with a kidney punch right before the guy landed on the ground. I had an old-school stick-fighting teacher that would sacrifice his stick to steal his opponent's stick. He did this in a match in the 30s, and the referee got knocked out when he stepped in to separate the fighters (thinking both fighter's sticks were trapped). When everyone knows what is supposed to happen, the time is ripe for innovation.

Honestly, I think Mayweather will win. Based solely on the fact that he never lost.

I have a strange feeling Conor is going to win (fixed) and Vegas is going to cash out HARD, Floyd gets paid out tens of millions on the side. Weird prediction of mine.

In recent news Paulie Malignaggi (2 weight boxing champ) went around talking rubbish earlier in the year saying the camera man could outbox Mcgregor. Mcgregor flew him into his camp just over a week and they went 12 rounds sparring and then a few days later Paulie went out saying he got pushed over and quit and beat up Mcgregor, well yesterday footage was released of Mcgregor lighting up a former boxing champ and knocking him flat on his back... So if thats any indicator to boxing fans that he can't "touch" Floyd then the whole world will be shocked especially boxing fan boys.

Also 16th August the boxing commission is voting on 8 ounce gloves instead of 10.

Conor does have boxing experience. He's also in peak shape at the ultimate peak time of his physical life.

There's an 11 year lifespan difference between the two.

I'd be very cautious stating Conner has 0 chance. If you're almost 40 or over, you know how big of a difference it is than when you were 29.

There are good arguments for both outcomes. My money is for mayweather by KO probably after the 8rd mark.

If McGregor wins, Vegas books would actually lose a lot of money.

People thinking McGregor has a chance keep thinking of the possibility of him catching Mayweather with a punch, but I think their concern should be that HE will get caught over and over and over, until his corner throws in the towel to avoid brain damage for their cash cow.

Once the lactic acid starts burning your shoulders and arms it's very hard to keep them up, especially when you keep getting tagged in the belly. McGregor is in for a very tough night, unless Mayweather humanely decides to take him out early. I really like the guy, and personalities like his come around once in a blue moon, but the reflexes are night and day. Watching the Mayweather workout should put that whole "40 years old" nonsense to rest.

Back in June, I thought this fight will be a shit show - Mayweather will just hit Conor a few times, then run away, reset, hit him again a few times, run away, etc... I figured Mayweather will just use his speed (both feet and hands) to avoid getting hit.

But the outside chance for McGregor has always been that if he brawls with Mayweather. If Conor can get inside, dip the shoulders into him, lean on him and make Floyd fight hard on the inside, then there's a chance.

If McGregor can use that kind of rough housing strategy to take the first couple rounds and insert some doubt into Mayweather's mind, then maybe Floyd starts coming forward. If Mayweather starts walking into McGregor, I'm pretty confident McGregor can knock him out with one clean hit.

I just have this inkling that McGregor is going to pull off the upset.

But I'd never pay to watch it.

    I work in a sportsbook(for now...)
The odds months ago was McGregor+2000
That was before the world tour....now Connor only is +350 ! (Not really even worth it to get on Conner...+2000 though was juicy if u got that line)

It's crazy to watch McGregor at the start of his career to where he is now. His will to succeed and belief in himself is unmatched. It's remarkable.
His skill on the Mic are just as impressive as his skills in the fight game. So entertaining.true showman. He sells fights.

I never though he would have a chance against mayweather...but how can you not visualize McGregor pulling off this upset? Its too perfect to add to his fairy tale rags to riches story.
I can just see it happening.
If McGregor wins it will be within first 5 rnds I think and by ko.
    Mayweather wins...decision.
Regardless should be a fun fight to watch.

I want McGregor to win and I actually believe that he can. His philosophy and outlook on life are admirable and I think that because of the unorthodox way he will approach Mayweather - there could be trouble.

People saying that there is no chance are being disingenuous. This is a fight. Mayweather can get caught and he has before. He's facing something he has never faced before. The fact is that we don't know what will happen, but Conor is not new to boxing by any means, so discounting him completely when he is in his physical prime, has very real knockout power, and is boxing a much older Floyd - is a bit too shallow.

Interesting when he talks about the breakdown of Floyd's stance and the soon to be tale of lead hands.. :fistbump:

Conor McGregor's approach to life and fighting (his mental process) has a stoic nature. Whether or not he knows it, he practices a similar philosophy as many other high performers.

As to who will win, like many others have already said, it doesn't matter. The event will happen as it ought and those who chose to walk away winner will walk away a winner.
