Can I have two different names for my company?

I want to have two separate company names. One that my customers will know me as and the other that my vendors will know me as. For instance, if I am talking to a potential customer they will know me as the owner of XYZ LLC but if talking to a vendor they will know me as ACME LLC. Is this possible or legal? Could I have my customers write me checks under one name and I write checks to my vendors under another. Or could I have to separate companies, one for the customer side and one for the expenses side?
