I have a concept for an idea that has a high chance of actually working well. Now here is my problem. I need to obtain large amounts of gatekeeped information from auto manufacturers. What is the best way to make my way up the chain and get my message to the right people in order to make it reality. So far it has been difficult to find individuals at their corporate offices in order to even get my foot in the door. And I am wondering if I should start the company legally in order to look as official as possible. Any advice is appreciated big or small

You can contact people at LinkedIn without having some "official" company. Since this is the biggest obstacle, I'd start there.

@MJ DeMarco makes a great point. Keep it simple and be honest. Just say you are trying to make a product that will make their life easier. Ask them if they'd be willing to talk for 5 minutes. You can even automate this outreach process with the plethora of auto connecting tools made for Linkedin.

If the front door doesn't work though, you can try the back door.

Another avenue might be to talk to consultants that service the automotive industry. They probably know a lot of the insights that you are looking for.
