If you look at my post history, you'll see that I got on here 3 years ago, working at Taco Bell and building a blog. Looking at that fresh passion and excitement I had made me want to shed a tear. I went totally AWOL and stopped posting. I lurked a little. I was working at Amazon delivering packages this year. I finished that website I mentioned in my "cherry popping" first post, and yet I sleep on a couch and my car died. I have made ZERO with the site, and I want to tell you WHY and the reason I feel I am at a crossroads. Here goes:

My dream of all dreams is to be in show biz- an actor, writer, producer, director. I don't care if it's a children's TV show or adult entertainment- I want to be one of the folks responsible for the work that goes into whatever it is you're watching when you turn on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, or even Pornhub. I want to entertain.

Which is why I haven't monetized my blog in the 3 years I've been paying for my Hostgator baby account. 11.95 a month and yet I haven't affiliate marketed or released my own product. Part of it is imposter syndrome/analysis paralysis. Even though I'm a good writer and creative type (if you're an investor and want a solid movie or TV show concept, I have an arsenal full of them in every genre), and have gotten good feedback from other people in my niche, as well as a tiny email list with MailCheat(Chimp), there is ONE big fear that's holding me back, unable to figure out to send the site out to pasture or not:

Cancel culture. Yes, you heard me. I actually fear success. See, what if I DO make it as an actor, screenplay writer, whatever? Everything-- every little mistake I have ever made in the past will be analyzed. The only saving grace I have is my intelligence mixed with my handsomeness. As well as being young. However, if cancel culture can get to Jimmy Fallon and J.K. Rowling, I don't think ANYONE is safe anymore. "It's in the past, it doesn't matter!" is a line in "The Lion King" said by Rafiki the baboon. Sadly, he would be rolling over in his grave in 2020.

What does cancel culture have to do with my business, you wonder? Without giving too much away, my website is in the dating and sexual relations realm. It is not completely anti feminism but it does have some criticisms. It's mainly for men which means sexist! My plan was to make a sister site for women though. The sites are basically self improvement sites which offer tips and tricks on becoming better with the opposite sex, and is sort of old fashioned, but with a lot of humor and sarcasm. Everything said in my blog posts- if connected to me assuming I land a big film or show- could be analyzed (satire or not.)

I could be overthinking this but I can't keep paying for a site I don't know what to do with. I worked pretty hard on it though. It's a WordPress site. If I cancel my account with Hostgator, I lose everything unless I back it (which I'm not even sure how to do in totality).

I'm looking for some guidance on how to proceed. I'm 28 with like 1K in the bank. I don't know whether to go ahead and go all in the site and make a product (I did buy a Panasonic Lumix GH5 with my stimulus check) or to learn a new business model (perhaps Saas-- building a screenwriting software, starting wedding videography business, ecommerce-- dropshipping, nutrition consulting, copywriting, etc.). What do?

Somethings gotta give...

We don't need another dating site, especially one that criticizes the feminism movement (you are alienating a huge demographic of online shoppers) Don't have concrete numbers but I'd guess the majority of consumers online are women.

For the last points, sass, wedding buisness and the other crap is beaten to death. You are focusing on making money. Don't make money, create value and forget about fighting with money chasing bozos in the niches you stated.

Start over and think what can you offer the world that is actually worth something? What do other human beings in the world need or want?

Sometimes I wonder if you noobs have read the books MJ has written, every bozo wants to be another bozo copywriting and drop shipping. *smacks head*

Sounds like you don't even believe in the work that you are doing, so from that point of view you should stop working on it.

Why are you creating the type of content that you know in advance you are afraid of the ramifications of said content?! You could just use that same time that you are already using to create content that you won't have those type of concerns for.

Based on what you have written here my suggestion is to: Abort mission.

Esp. since you haven't even made any money off of it yet.

Why offend women when you could create something that would please them and compel them to spend money with you?! We love spending money online, and anywhere

I am a woman, perhaps your way of thinking is a "man thing"??

Do you mind PM'ing me the link? I'm interested in knowing if your content is sarcastic and humorous.

Sex sells. It's an evergreen niche. I also know a fair bit about male and female differences and commonalities, and figured this was something I could monetize. Men will pay for advice on getting laid. In general sex is profitable. There is a reason why nightclubs bars and strip clubs do so well. And women can strip on cam and have hoards of guys throwing money at them just to see them naked.

I have matured since I began the site. Issue is, even if I delete the site, it will never be truly gone right? Isn't there a way for people to find old sites? Wayback machine or something?

Another issue is I have no idea what to do. I've paid for the hosting and feel I should get my money back.

This is tough...

He did
A) Read the book upon which this forum is based.
B) Read the NOTABLE and GOLD threads.
C) Follow users with big rep $$
D) Visit everyday.
I will do so. I am hoping the book is a good read, and not that snakeoil stuff I hear Tai Lopez, Sam Ovens, and possibly even Jon Penberthy sell. I will be pleasantly surprised, which will make me really motivated to succeed here.
Been reading the book, it's drawn me in. Quite impressed with the quality.

See, what if I DO make it as an actor, screenplay writer, whatever? Everything-- every little mistake I have ever made in the past will be analyzed.
The only saving grace I have is my intelligence mixed with my handsomeness. As well as being young.

So you'll be rich, famous, smart, young, handsome & sexist.
You're the new Mel Gibson or Clint Eastwood

You have a website, big deal, you're not running for Pope are you?

I also know a fair bit about male and female differences and commonalities
Men will pay for advice on getting laid.
yet I sleep on a couch and my car died.

Whilst I feel for you, your present is a result of decisions you made.

If you are such a smart, handsome gifted screenwriter that knows women, you'll be living in a rich hottie's oceanfront crib, driving her McLaren a week after arriving LA.

Don't overthink things, you're talking like success & fame in Hollywood is a shoe-in.

Cross that bridge when you come to it.

Forgot to mention the website I made is inspired by the website "Bold & Determined". It's not totally politically correct either and that guy isn't cancelled.

I like you. You are well worded. The words cut like a samurai sword.

I have an IMDB page. I have done indies here and there but the only thing keeping me in this shithole of a Seattle suburb is lack of money to move to LA in first place. My goal is to be there by 30 but if I don't figure out a business and make money fast, sadly my potential will be wasted. I want to go there while I'm still young. So many actors started in LA 10 years my junior and I feel so far behind. Rob started "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" at 28 on like barely any budget...I'm 28! I need to DO SOMETHING!

So how many millions of dollars have you made?

WHo cares if someone finds it? Provide real value. Not money chasing

The site is modeled after Bold & Determined. That guy has millions and has managed to make a non-PC blog profitable. Why not me?

The reason I don't have millions is because he has books and products on his blog and I do not.

Again though, much like how Amazon can't be outdone, I'm not sure I can outdo the others already in the sex and dating niche.

I like your thinking though. Starting over means finding ANOTHER problem and solving that problem. Problem is, most problems have already been solved.

Most problems have been solved? That is a strong statement implying we are in a nearly problem free world.

Hmmm....

I'm also vain, that's why I'm only quoting this part LOL

It's unusual for intelligent, young, good looking people to struggle financially.

What's missing from the equation?

EQ, personality, procrastination, lazy, drugs, mental health...

Actually they won't stop you while you're young & handsome, one only has to develop a personality as looks fade.

Why can't you model? Seattle must have agencies.

Find a wealthy cougar, it's a legitimate value proposition. You'll get clothes, allowance & a car. Promise you'll return the BMW when you're settled in LA.

Failing that, scrape together enough for a flight to Manila or Jakarta. It's cheap cost of living & you could model there.

Maggie Q started as a model in HK.

Research now & plan to go after covid.

You get free test shots from new photographers that want to build their portfolio.

Finally, last resort, porn actor, you're lucky, nowadays the women actors are generally hot.

Don't waste your looks, anyone can do business, how many people can be models?

Carpe Diem!

As for cancel culture, take a page from the politician's book. DON'T APOLOGIZE. Apologize for the way it may have been interpreted, ignore the accusations or double down. But never apologize. These people don't really believe the causes they claim to fight for. They just want POWER. To claim another digital scalp. Besides, worry about cancel culture when you've MADE it. You're not worth the effort in cancelling right now (no offense).

Also pro-masculinity is HOT right now! MGTOW, MRA, IBMOR, Red Pill and other movements have risen up to counter feminism. Your blog can make BIG money. The problem is getting an audience. I'd go to Reddit or YouTube and promote it there. Stick with it. Failure is better than regret.

But if you punk out, simply add a backup plugin to your site, backup and download.

You think alienating the biggest market consumers (females) is a good move?

I must be missing something from the puzzle. Maybe that's why I don't have a Ferrari :/

Better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond. The LGBT community is <2% of the general population, but companies pander to them like crazy. Demographics don't matter, spending power does. And while women spend more on average, men make more.

Not compared to spending power. Very few people can afford yachts, but that niche market is high income so it's worth it. Let's not bicker and help the poster out.

I'm just gonna link the site guys. It's not monetized. So I'm not really promoting anything. I've had a couple drinks and feel like facing this head on. I won't run. In fact, I may just get behind the 8 ball. Make a post addressing cancel culture and my defense. That way, if I make it in the future, they can't say I am some evil turd. I'm young and stupid. Just trying to get by. I won't go back to fast food. And sex sells. I don't care if it's not PC. If someone wants to ruin my acting career because of some stupid blog I made when I was 23, LET THEM TRY. Here guys. Be honest with me. It seems better than I remember. Theres even an email capture trigger, so beware of that pop up. I think all this work might be for naught if I don't make a product, but you tell me:

LOL! That's it? Your site is no more controversial than the typical pickup artist. The only article is see that could cause controversy is the "no rape culture" one. It looks bland and basic (get a nice Wordpress template), but the content is actually good. You should enable comments. Discussion is half the fun.

Yeh, you mentioned smoking weed, not that it's a bad thing.. but for building a business I'd put that aside.

Dump the blog, it sucks. As I said, create something of value...product...or service.

Can it be that simple to get IOIs?

YES!

Just take action. Harvesting IOIs is easy once you have a six pack.

Or a Lamborghini. Although I prefer the Camaro
.''

Getting a lambo is the key to getting women? You are delusional and sound super narcissistic, noone needs this bull***

Read Unscripted and throw everything in the garbage & start over. Like my man Kevin O Leary would say, take the blog behind the barn and shoot it, then light it on fire.

The world is a selfish place, noone will care about your passions and desires, only what YOU can do for others. Secret sauce of entrepreneurship, providing value, for value vouchers. Not inflated egos that want to be rich and famous. Do yourself a favor, and flood the world with value, then in return you can fulfill your desire to get a Lamborghini and attract botox injected Kylie Jenner gold fish personality hotties with drug & alcohol problems whilst partying it up at the club posting bad a$$ selfies on Instagram falling head over heels over you because of a box with wheels that costs a few hundred grand.

Good luck on the journey....

I think your entire post is bullshit. You're worried you might be successful at some point, and your past will come back to haunt you and that is why you are not pursuing success?

Pure, unadulterated bullshit.

If that IS your real reason, your mental masturbation regarding your future success has to stop.

You haven't done shit, and you have allowed yourself intellectual dishonesty to cloud your "why."

You've justified your inaction with your own delusion. Nobody cares. You have an overinflated vision of your future self.

I think it's all a facade.

You're not doing anything to realize your Lamborghini dreams, and now you've convinced yourself it's because some day, when you're famous, you might be criticized.

Bullshit. Not reading another single thing you post, including your response to my post, unless someone I trust from here alerts me down the road that you are actually doing something productive.

Lie to yourself. Don't waste your time lying to us. You're not getting there because you haven't done shit to get there.

I've made a LOT of mistakes in my life. My choices are my own. You find yourself EXACTLY where you planned to be.

Your post pissed me off, mostly because I took the time to read it. We're here to help people that are pressing forward, not those that are sitting around pretending. Your website is terrible and something I could make in an afternoon. It's not a business. I can't imagine why you would be paying for that to be hosted, or why that took you a long time to build. I'm also pissed that I clicked on your ABOUT on your website, because no hetero guy (who I assume your audience is) wants to see your nipples. Put a shirt on. You don't even know who your own audience is. I could hire a VA to to make a site in 2 days with more content and better done than your site. Abandon ship. This is just your mental masturbation blog, and I would wager you only have a handful of subscribers. Zero value.

Stop F*cking pretending, and go out and do something from TODAY to change your future. OR, stop posting here. Really.

How's that for you wanting to live in the real world, beyond the CANCEL culture? You don't have to wait that long. You can wake up...today. And change. And start.

I agree with your sentiments, but not the delivery. You didn't have to shit on the kid like that. You probably did it as a form of tough love, but it takes a lot for someone to open up about their doubts and insecurities. Saying "quit being a pussy bro" isn't enough. What alternative have you offered? He's made effort with this blog. Why not start there? That's clearly his passion.

You CAN make money online from blogs. I've done it! You think posting your thoughts online is "mental masturbation?" Tell that to Tim Pool and Phillip DeFranco. If readers find his content useful, that's value. He can monetize it, promote it, hire guest writers, etc. Before you know it, he has the next BuzzFeed or Return Of Kings!

Sadly, I doubt he has the drive for that. Too busy daydreaming.

I’m sorry. I will work on my delivery. I’m still getting used to the participation trophy generation.

By the way I thought your last two sentences were very harsh and not encouraging.

Maybe somewhere within the 10,000 posts that I’ve offered on this forum you can find the answer to your question as to what alternatives I have put forth for him.

Or, he can follow your advice and focus on his passion. Either way.

No worries man. I was like you once. It cost me business. Partner called me out for being too blunt. Sometimes it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Re: the last sentences, it'll go one of two ways. He'll believe me and return to Neverland, or work his a$$ off to prove me wrong. If it's the former, he's not Fastlane material.

LOL! That's it? Your site is no more controversial than the typical pickup artist. The only article is see that could cause controversy is the "no rape culture" one. It looks bland and basic (get a nice Wordpress template), but the content is actually good. You should enable comments. Discussion is half the fun.

I didn't know comments were disabled. Damn.

Well, I like the honesty. See, I don't want to give up entirely on this whole fastlane thing. I'm nit someone who can succeed having to answer to a boss. I fail at every job where I am talked at. Unless it's a movie director. I have to find something. I don't want to want for anything in my 30s. I want my 30s to be better than my 20s. I have to figure this out. And fast!

I can make it easy for you.

No one cares if you start a fastlane business.

No one cares if you get 99% of the way there, but don't finish your product and never launch.

No one even cares if you succeed.

No one cares if you work at taco bell or are the CEO of Apple.

In short, no one cares about you except your close friends and family (if you're fortunate enough to have those).

You have to care enough about your work to get it out there. It has to mean something to you.

You're never going to "feel" like doing the work. If you do "feel" like it, great! But, don't count on it lasting very long.

No one is going to come and guide your hand to success (whatever that looks like for you).

Listen to the other posters here, they're giving you good advice. Guess what, no one cares if you follow it or just keep doing the same thing and getting no where.

Best part? No one cares if you try and fail. Over and over again. Just do it man. Try something. Stop looking for permission.

People care about what you do for them. So try to offer "them" value. Keep trying until you get it right.

Oh shit man youre in seattle? Same

The problem with your "business" as with your post is that is based in "I want" ... Nobody cares what you want. TMF book should have made that clear.
You have to care about what others want (NEED). If your fundation is crooked your business will fail.
TLDR: Forget what YOU want. Go find pain of other human beings and work on that. Help them.
