There's both a Shrine and Masonic Lodge in my town. Fairly prominent buildings, with the Lodge being one of the biggest downtown. Aside from a couple of skyscrapers.

Being that I have been to those buildings and know many a men in the GSP region I can attest that my time spent in SC was indeed a lot better due to the friendships made and harnessed through masonry. It made my transitioning to the area (for a period of time) a whole hell of a lot easier.

That's not true at all, they purposely attempt to get people to live impulsively and take measures to dumb down the population. If they were so intelligent and wanted the masses to be intelligent aswell why would they try to bring down others intelligence on purpose?

Me and my brother are the first generation of guys in my family in a long time to not actively be a freemason. Multiple freemason rings my dad has in his drawer from his father and his father before him. I assure you that all of the conspiracies are just that; theories. I live in the deep south and I assure you that the freemasons I know that are family and ones that are considered family by my freemason-active family generations, are good ol' boys and have no ties to the Illuminati. One of them has been a tobacco farmer & truck driver his whole life. I don't think he would be doing that if he had Illuminatic type power. Lol

Of course I don't understand, people are driven by self interest but if I had alot of power I would use it for good because ultimately making the world better would also mean making my own life better.
I would benefit from having the world prosper, I don't understand why someone would not do that because life isn't a zero-sum game, everyone can win.

You but do you think this is something that’s unique to humans? I think animals in every species use their ‘underlings’ to do their bidding. Like every species has a pecking order. And it’s certainly not the fault of the guys up top that certain people aren’t smart enough to do anything but make ice cream cones at McDonalds.

Another one I would personally add to this list is volunteering.

Wealthy people are very generous with their time, energy and money.

Many volunteering opportunities are literally the 'who’s who’ of your town/city.

If you want to rub elbows with the movers and shakers in your town, volunteer. Usually only the most affluent are in a position to donate a lot of money or time.

The volunteer groups I’ve worked with are full-blown clusterfucks of the movers and shakers in town.

Absolutely, and what needs to be remembered is that freemasons do not only class other freemasons as equal. As the americans say "All men are created equal." That is why we extent a lot of help and charity toward others.
I detest the idea of looking down on others. Most people aren't the way they are because they are stupid. Ever talked to a homeless guy on the street? Asked his story? If you ever do you may come to realise that it could've very easily have been you sitting on the street.

life doesn't care about " equality " .

equality is a human idea to fight the unfairness of the universe, wich means humans think they are superior to nature and the truth

I know that there are freemasons in high levels of societies, but all of the masons that I know in real life are low wage earners. The most recent ones that I met worked at Babies R Us and Foot Locker

Actually, most of the men in my lodge are blue collar. Back when there were frequently Masons in all manner of important positions, ALL fraternal organizations had huge memberships. There were Elks, Eagles, Moose, Odd Fellows and Rotarians everywhere in the pre-TV days before there was so much competition for time and activity. Also morality was much more of a given in society, so any group with a lofty philosophy had a much easier time attracting members.

My uncle is a millionaire who spends his free time watching TV and falling asleep on the couch lol.

Funny to see this today as just yesterday I toured the main Freemason lodge in New York City.

It's interesting that this "secret" organization has been around for thousands of years.

After a couple of hours of listening to freemasons talk about their club it seems like a place where men go for camaraderie and to better themselves and their communities.

I would totally consider joining for both of those reasons. It's also a really great network to belong to as it's full of powerful and successful people.

I used to subscribe to a lot of conspiracy theories about Freemasons and the Knights Templar but I now think a lot of those stories are just a byproduct of the club being "secret". People will always speculate.

I've never been a fan of exclusive groups be it non- religious/religious or political organisations. I am not a "group's-type" person.

Always thought this is the easiest way to fall pray to indoctrination and/or jingoistic propaganda.

So much complexity involved here, something may seem good on the face of it but turn out to be a complete farce. Not saying this is the case with Freemasonry but my study of history has taught me that our desire to bond with others and to exercise our primal instinct to move in groups, has been exploited to date. Hence walking around with eyes very wide open.

I've never bothered joining but I did a bunch of casual research on them a few years back since the local hall always caught my eye from the road as we drove by growing up: Google Maps

The conclusion I came to after some casual digging was that they seem generally dedicated to making the world a better place. Almost like a less formalized church or charity. I got the impression that people think it's a lot more secretive and exciting than it really is.

If you had free time and wanted to get involved with good people trying to do good things, I'd probably hit them up.

Although there may be something to be said for the fraternal part of it, the social and collective aspects (for those who want them), you don't need initiations and rites to learn secret things. Information can not hide. The secrets of Masons, physicists, Taoists, philosophers, monks, Shinto shamans, jinn sorcerers, and even economists are yours for the taking. Just like you don't need a square hat for academic knowledge, you don't need a fez or a cute handshake for less public knowledge.
