Hi Fastlaners,
I’m Andrea, and I’d like your honest opinion on my current situation.
Since I was 26, I’ve been trying to start different businesses. I began with simple ventures like dropshipping — it failed quickly and I gave up. Then I tried to create a finance course; I made maybe €60 in total.
Later, I teamed up with my partner to launch a long-lasting liquid lipstick brand. But we quit. It’s a capital-intensive business, and we didn’t have anyone to create content with. My partner couldn’t be the face of the brand because she works for a competing cosmetics company and was contractually restricted. We didn’t have female friends to model for content, so we gave up again.
I even tried to build web apps. I used AI tools like Replit and Cloud IDEs to generate code, but I always hit a wall — I lacked the technical skills to finish even a basic MVP.
After losing about €10,000 in the lipstick venture (a big sum for me in Italy), I became more cautious. I kept trying to come up with ideas, but nothing seemed feasible without solid technical skills.
That’s when I came back to MJ DeMarco’s videos, especially the ones where he talks about moving from a “worker” to a skilled worker by learning a high-value skill — like marketing, coding, or even plumbing or electrical work.
I chose data analysis, especially in the finance sector. I’ve invested €1,300 in a course. My goal is to eventually build financial tools, or even apply this skill to other industries.
I’m 31 now, still working as a factory worker, and I really hope this path leads to a better future — both professionally and entrepreneurially.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you think this was a smart move? Any advice or feedback is welcome.
Thanks for reading
