Hey forum,
so there's this volunteer project, a computer game, a city builder focused on the climate change theme. I can share link in DM.
(Hence posting in off-topic because it's currently not for profit.)
It's been in development for 2 years and the main programmer wants to move on, so there's opportunity for someone to step in.
The project is currently free/not-for-profit. Other participants are open to a for-profit model (think games like Tiny Bookstore or the Minami Lane) if it can lead to a greater impact. (So, if you join the project and begin to contribute, there's possibility to make it a for-profit.)
I am trying to help the project continue because I think it's a good cause, and significant work has been done. And several people can keep supporting the project, but somebody with programming skills needs to be driving it. (You will not be the CEO though.) Connections to the broader climate community can be provided.
Why is it a good experience?
If you can make this project succeed, you can then make another similar project that would be fully for-profit.
Knowledge of the climate change niche will also become increasingly valuable.
